You serious?
If you're going AMD, go Ryzen. Just know that current Intel's i7-7700k is the king of gaming right now.
The FX 8350 is only good as the Intel Pentium kabylake, or skylake i3. There is no reason to ever look at anything older than Ryzen from AMD, unless you can get the FX 8350, for less than $40, which even if you did, is a dead end as there nothing to upgrade towards as AM3+ is a dead end.
Your options is Ryzen R5 1600, or R7 1700 with AMD, or wait for Intel to launch it's new CPU line up coffee lake, which the i5, and i7 will be a six core processor.
I got 4.9 I think with one 8300
Rest did at least 4.7
Did 5.2 on a 4300
Yes 24/7
No, never buy those. They are 100% dead... AMD Ryzen should be your only bottom line AMD based consideration from 2017 on-ward.
Yeah I know that....
You can put however many threads you want on any CPU, period...
The bottom line is however you wish to compare AMD FX to others; the FX falls short... simple as that. There really is no up side. The only upside might be something that would actually use multi-core big time, like Rendering; that would allow such a CPU to pull ahead from lesser ones.
But in Gaming, no... a 6th Gen i3 holds onto the same performance in gaming as any FX, period. Yea that IS how bad they are.
You can put 100000000000000 to the thosanths exponential threads on one core........
2 core of a pentium or i3 a FX 8 core will and especially OCed give better performance if the game can use them. I dont see what there is too debate. In Doom alone an FX 4300 performs similar in budget to those cpus, the 6 and 8 core AMDs are much better
There is no point debating any of this non-sense; all the data is there that says you are wrong when it comes to gaming performance. It's that simple really.
Overall, this is not a debate. The OP is looking for which CPU he/she should lean towards; unless it is Ryzen for something of an AMD choice, then the only other option is Intel... simple as that really.
Don't buy outdated stuff; it's dead.
Sure they hold thier own, https://www.techspot.com/review/1173-doom-benchmarks/page5.html
Doesnt change the fact the game is using more threads and if it werent for 8 cores they would perform like the FX 4300 which still gets way over 60 fps maxed.
