I want to reinstall my windows, but I'm scared
So my computer is starting to lag pretty bad and I want to reinstall my windows myself, I have done this a few times. My computer, witch is a windows 8.1 6GB RAM hp laptop, has a recovery thingy on the disc D:, and it can reinstall windows. As I said I have done this a few times before but I had this problem and needed to take my pc to a professional to fix. And the problem was that my windows were gone..? idk.. And now I think it might be of the reinstall that I've done, I think it installs a temporary version of windows or something so could anyone tell me if it is safe to do it or no?

btw the discs name is RECOVERY

It's probably just a ghost image of the original installation that came with your computer. There is nothing to fear, other than having to update everything which is time consuming. Maybe you'll be better off just fresh installing Windows 10.
So if I do it now it won't delete my windows after some time?

Do not use the recovery partition to reinstall windows, it will install all the HP bloatware that comes with any new pre-built system.

Download Windows from the microsoft website and format the recovery partition during the install. The free space is worth more to you.

Just re download the OS from Microsoft and use that instead. This way it's clean and much more up to date already.
