Well I heard that a ssd was way faster than a hdd so it should be faster.

An ssd connected to sata3 would be faster than an ssd connected to usb3.

Again, as i said, the actual speed depends on the drive. Based on just USB vs S-ATA3, S-ATA3 wins as USB can't go faster than 10Gbit, no matter how fast the drive is.

A HDD cannot use the theoretical speed of SATA III. Heck, not even a SSD can. A very good HDD will read like 170MB/s, 550MB for Samsung Evo.
The fastest SSDs though dont use any cables but are connectected to mobo directly via M2.

Or PCI-E. If I remember it correctly right now SSD is only using PCIe gen 3 at x1 or x2, but future SSD will use x4 up to x16 which means very fast speed

Doesn't really matter; SATA-3 vs USB 3.x; cause neither SATA HDD or SSD can saturate either type fully; either would be fine for either drive type.

For external then use ensure the enclosure is SATA-3 inside and USB 3.x outside.
