Headphones/headsets with and without mic's for gaming
I am looking to buy a pare of headphones and a mic (can be together or seperate) for use listeningn to music and gaming. I would like a pare of studio headphones, however need a mic as well. I have a combined audio input (both in and out in one), so would like to know what the best option would be on about a $100 budget. Right now I am thinking of getting a HyperX Cloud II, do you guys think that would be the best option? Would I be better off buying a seperate mic and headphones? Thanks a load!!!

Avoid gaming headset garbage.

If you want quality headphones, get quality headphones. If you want a mic, get a quality mic.

Buy from brands that actually manufacture, rather than assemble cheap made in China drivers. Go for the brands that actually develop audio hardware.

If it has "gaming" or "surround sound" in the title or description, don't fall for it.

My advice: Save up.

You could get something that'll work but save up a little and you can get something way better that'll last many years.

I only really want to buy stuff worth $100 total, what products would you suggest. I want a nice nice headphones, and a alright mic. I know I can get a good pare of headphones for like $80-$90, but what about a mic? How expensive would a decent mic be?

Avoid all Headsets w/ Mic
Buy them separately. Basically every headset has the same cheap mic.

But yet a lapel mic is super cheap in price, yet way better quality.
Then for headphones, you can get studio/audiophile quality headphones for around the same as those fake, cheap "gaming" headsets.

"Gaming" on any PC or Console product is basically the same stupid fake gimmick used as "R", "GT" or "Special Edition" is used on many line-ups of Cars.

This also helps in case one goes bad. Pretty much all headsets, people usually end up replacing simply due to poor mic, or the mic going bad after a while. Think about it... you can pay $30, 50, 200 for your headset, they all pretty much have the same $1 mic inside.

I know I can get a good headphone for around $80-$100, but then I don't have that much to buy a modmic or anything good right? I do want the mic to attach right onto the headphones if possible. Is the HyperX Cloud II that bad for it's price? I have only heard good things about it.

Why would you want the Mic to be anywhere near the Headphones?

You realize this all part of why they are bad right?

Studio quality headphones can be worth it.

However, you can always buy clip-on Mic for like $20 or less; which will stomp out basically any Mic that comes built into Headsets that have those includes.

Anyways I'm just suggesting folks weigh their options.

If anything, avoid Kingston's headsets like the plague.

Logitech G430 is approx 1/3 to 1/2 the price and easily out matches something like Cloud-II in every way.

Are you sure, every other person has said like the clouds are amazing. And the headphones should not leak that much noise anyway right?

Who says such things? Kids playing CSGO/TF2 maybe...

Please, look at Headsets/Headphones from professional brands; if they are not an actual audio brand, don't look at those.

lol, I just don't know much about mic's and don't have all too much time for that stuff with my VCE coming up. I just wan't to get a good set of headphones and an audiable mic, so my friends can understand what I say with ease. I don't mind having a mic thats on my desk that much, so how much would an alright one cost me?

Stand alone mics just seem to be a little unconveneint.

Way too expensive hear in Australia, everything has to add up to mabye a little over $100 USD or in Australia it will cost me too much. Thanks for the suggestion anyway though.

On the cheap, then I'd suggest the Logitech G430, seriously, try them.

Not sure on AU pricing though.

In USA, G430 is like $40 on Amazon (Logitech lists them for $80)
Yet they stomp anything Kingston offers, hands down.

Before buying any headset though, check the official product support page regarding things such as Firmware Updates, Software, etc...
