LG Screen Split with Steam Big Picture
I can't believe how little information I've been able to find on this. Can anybody with an LG monitor with Screen Split please tell me if Steam Big Picture (and games launched from it) are properly confined to a specified screen region? IOW, if an ultrawide is split into a 1920x1080 section and a 640x1080 section, would Big Picture and games launch just within the larger section? I was hoping to accomplish this with DisplayFusion, but it can't confine full-screen programs.

Also, if this does work, is it possible to set it up so these sections are created either when Big Picture is launched or with a hotkey at least? I want to get an ultrawide, but I currently mirror my display to my TV for gaming, and unless this would work, I'd have to have the TV extended instead of mirroring which I'd rather not do for a couple reasons.

Split Screen Monitors mean simply that you can have an easier way to view and switch two input signals; all view-able at the same time. This is essentially PIP like you would have on most TVs; it does not show you multiple inputs side by side equally. The 2nd input is in a small PIP box within a corner of the screen, thats it.

If you are using two displays u can easily toggle the display mode in Windows OS quite simply by pressing and holding down Windows Logo Key and press P; release both keys once u get the Display mode you want. In 2 secs u can go from having Steam Client or BPM on Monitor only, to having that displays on both (going from Extended to Duplicate)

What you can't do easily (that I'm aware of) is tell the OS to swap Display #1 and #2; and vice-versa; in an easy way. This is done through something like NVIDIA Control Panel.

If both Monitor and TV for example; are close to one another and you'd like to easily go from say having STEAM BPM on Monitor, to TV, then turn off the Monitor; you can do Winkey+P > Duplicate > then once this is applied and both screens showing the same Desktop contents, now if you do Winkey+P again and switch to Projector, this should show Display #2 only, and turn off Display #1. Some might prefer this way, so that you are not seeing 2x Displays showing the same content at the same time, which can be rather distracting.

LG Screen Split works differently. You can designate different areas of the screen as different virtual monitors. You can also use one monitor to display the output from two different video cards, so you can see and control two different computers on one screen at the same time (though unfortunately it's not Linux compatible, so not much use for me as I wanted to be able to have Windows and Linux side-by-side). There's also software, like DisplayFusion, that does this, but I'm curious if LG's software is more capable since maybe it's more embedded into the monitor. As I said, DF can't do what I want, but I'm hopeful LG's software can.

Also, apparently you can tell the OS to switch the displays, as you can set Big Picture to do this whenever it's launched.

Well then u must control all of those features from the Monitor or TV; the OS has nothing to do with it and can't even talk to those screen features.

Not sure which features you're talking about, but everything I've mentioned (virtual displays, using two computers on one monitor simultaneously, switching primary monitor when Big Picture launches) and more (e.g. brightness, power) can all be controlled without touching the monitor/TV. And in my scenario above, I could maximize a browser, for example, and it would only take up the 16:9 section of the screen, leaving the remaining 1/4 of the screen for other things. Similarly, I could run a game in borderless windowed mode on that 3/4 of the screen. The only thing I'm not sure of is if the software LG uses to do this can restrict full-screen apps or not, as DisplayFusion can do all the same stuff but it can't keep a full-screen app from going full-screen. So if LG has managed to provide this ability through a more embedded software/firmware, that would be an excellent motivation for me to buy one of their monitors. If not, I'll either have to avoid ultrawides for the time being or have Steam switch monitors, but I don't really like the idea of that for various reasons.

Oh ok so it has OS based Software to do all of that; Ok sorry if I was being confusing...

Problem you might find... is Windows 7

Just run Steam Client in a window portion that way; why BPM?
Yes BPM can't run in any sort of "Windowed Mode" period.
Now if the LG Software has the means of creating two OS Desktops on the display, then yes, it might work, but just know BPM has to run full screen, there are no options for that.

Seriously just pretend BPM doesn't exist. There is really no reason to ever load that up; except to configure a Controller perhaps.

BPM actually does have an option to run windowed. I don't use it because it's not borderless, and the games will still be full-screen, so it probably wouldn't matter anyway.

It won't do what you want in OnScreen Control. Big Picture uses fullscreen and ignores the layouts (designed for windowed apps).

Is this from experience with an LG with Screen Split?
