Deleting AVG from my computer?

A while back (maybe 4 or 5 months ago) I was having trouble with my laptop (it had been acting slow). As it turned out it was AVG (which I had meant to unistall earlier, but never got the chance/lazy). We tried to unistall it, but the unistaller crashed during it. Either way, the problem was fixed. However, I still see AVG programs running on my computer, taking up memory. I tried to maunally unistall them (since that the AVG unistaller does not exist on my laptop anymore), but I couldn't. I want this off of my computer since that now AVG has pretty much become Malware disguised as an anti-virus.

Any way to get the files off quick and easy?

PS: My friend told me that the reason for the existing files was because that AVG's unistaller is broken and doesn't work properly.
