Ok... I have a laptop. And need a second for work. Problem is I don't wanna just do all work so gaming laptop i'm thinking of. I purchased a surfacebook performance edition for 2700 and i love it but i know its not a gaming laptop. I had a alienware r4 17 1080 but returned it due to many bugs. And it was so loud i couldn't play it in most public places (also very heavy). Then i saw asus rog zephyrus gx501 i know its not powerful but seems like its too my liking. What you guys think of this. Constructive criticism please :)

I've a Mid-2015 MacBook Pro for work, and was approached by my company asking if I needed a new laptop. I was/ am very happy with the MacBook as a daily performer, but as the offer was on the table, I decided to ask for the GX501. Because I was happy with the performance of the MacBook as a work computer, I wanted to get some functionality out of the choice which the MacBook couldn't provide (dedicated GPU, expanded connectivity) as well as something I could do some gaming on when I travel. I basically wanted the functionality of a desktop with the mobility of a laptop. The battery life is absolutely atrocious, but as I intend to use this as a mobile desktop rather than a portable work tool, I'm very happy with the performance. With a little bit of electrical tape, the obnoxious gamer logos are discrete enough, and doing some quick gaming tests the laptop is a beast. I chose the one with the GTX 1080 Max-Q, and it seems quiet enough so far, and is barely larger than the MacBook Pro I'm used to. Not really looking forward to carrying the power brick in my bag, but it's a small sacrifice to be able to travel with this much power in a portable frame.

Awkward keyboard placement, very small battery, panel trades resolution for refresh rate (purely subjective on this one), and Max-Q will bring this GTX 1080 to somewhere just slightly above a desktop 1070. It's otherwise a well-rounded package you can't really go wrong with.
