Motherboard help and compatability

I was gonna upgrade my cpu until I just realised my Motherboard does not support new cpu's and Im kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥, please tell me if I am wrong. If my motherboard is a 3 generation it can only support intel cpu's up to the third generation?

well your MoBo has the socket 1155 so you can use every CPU having this socket incl. 3rd Gen. Intel i3/i5/i7/PentG but also some Xeon models.

Most noticably:
G2120
i3-3245
i5-3340
i7-3770

So all CPU's that arent produced anymore. You only chance would to buy leftovers or used ones. So I would advice to buy a new MoBo with modern socket that supports your CPU.
If you bought a 6th/7th/8th Gen Intel Pentium G/i3/i5/i7 then go with a B250 MoBo and if it is a K-CPu a Z270 MoBo.

Your CPU is still decent-ish. You could just do a entire new build. With modern parts. Or get i7 3770k with a hyper 212 evo and overclock it.

one of the cheapest build ofr your requirements. You would profit much from also adding a SSD like the Samsung 850/960 Evo 250GB which are another 100 bucks.

right but coffe lake has already been annouced and will be released officially during the autumn holidays (so technically were not in 8th gen yet but it already exist).
