Upgrading from a i7 4770k to a 7700k make a big performance increase in VR?
Ive been thinking of upgrading my motherboard so I can use ddr4 ram and pick up one of those i7 7700k processors. This is mainly for vr games because ive noticed some of the newer vr titles seem have lower performance on my rig (like Gorn, Raw Data, Gunheart, Onward, or Island 359). My question though is if I do upgrade my processor and ram, will I see a major improvment in frames/performance in vr games mainly? It sounds dumb I know but ive never really upgraded the processor before, only the video card really.

Current specs:
i7 4770k - stock unclocked
GTX 1080 Strix
16 gigs of ddr 3 ram
Win10

Overclock the 4770k and you will be good for another couple of years.

Not worth it, think about it in a way that if you gain 10fps it'll cost you a new mobo/cpu/ddr4 to get that.

Google i7 4770k vs i7 7700k

Invest in good CPU and Case Cooling and OC that CPU.
You'll still be fine on that for years.

Your best option is a better cooling system and overclocking what you've got now. If you want to upgrade, wait another few months until the AMD Threadripper(love that name) and Intel i7 8700K launch. They won't necessarily be a huge increase in performance over previous CPUs, but they would certainly offer something very different.

Sure, if you've got around a minimum of approx $300 for Motherboard + $1000 for CPU
Certainly would not go TR4 (ThreadRipper) and stick a $549 1900X 8C/16T on it.
