Updating NVIDIA drivers clean install vs non-clean install
So I opted not to perform a clean install as the settings and profiles gets reset but I noticed that despite opting out of a clean install that it sitll uninstalls drivers before installing new ones? So is is still installing the new drivers responsibly?

Yes the driver is being reinstalled. Settings are a different group of parameters.

Still it's always better to perform a clean install if possible.

What settings are u really losing? It takes like 1 minute to configure those.

You may as well just clean install, it's not as though it makes the process much harder or more time consuming.

Yea with DDU, it actually cuts the time to do all of that WAY down.

Honestly, don't update the driver version unless there is a need to do so.
It's one thing when you've had the OS installed for years and the drivers are that old still.
But updating GPU drivers every single time it has an update = foolish

Pretty much. Drivers only need to work, if your drivers are working fine then you may as well keep them until you have a problem. Speaking for myself, I've only updated my drivers once this year - I run an older version that's known to be very stable. Saves hassle, also prevents some bugs and glitches.

You need it if you want to record gameplay with Shadowplay.

No you don't you can use plenty of other good apps. OBS being one of them. And also Win10/11 has this ability built in via Xbox Gamebar which you can use as an Overlay for many apps and games

I have tried many recording apps, including the ones you mentioned, and Shadowplay has BY FAR the least hit on FPS. OBS and Xbox Gamebar cripple my FPS.

Then at least configure GFE so it does not auto update. And configure toggle keys for recording so you don't enable osd or recording until after a game is launched. As some games might have issues loading up properly with all of that set to auto enable as soon as a game is launched, like RDR2 for example.

Users do not need GFE to install the gpu driver. When you want to change driver, download the full game ready driver package from the nVidia website > https://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx
