How can I make sure I dont get such high ping?

I asked this question on reddit and it was useless, no one actually answered my question so PLEASE dont just say "move out" or "use wired connection" because I kinda cant just MOVE OUT and I cant use wired connection.

So im just going to copy and paste my thread

I cant play a game of overwatch without being below 80 ping, ALL DAY ive been getting 200+ ping and its actually unplayable. Me and my roommates have an interenet plan of 100mb download a month yet, when I run a speed test im only getting 17mb download and 187 latency.
Is there something I can do to get better connection? Im running wireless and the router is about 15 feet away in the living room. Wiring my connection isnt an option and ive tried moving my PC closer to the router and it did nothing.

Make sure you understand​ the difference between Mbps and Mb/s. Generally internet speed is referred as Mbps and 8 Mbps = 1 Mb/s. Anyway is that wire or wireless.

I just ran a speed test and I got 22mbps, I run wireless.

How far is your PC away from the router/modem exactly? 'Use a wired connection' may sound rudimentary, but it's always the most effective solution. Otherwise a power line wifi extender is your only option, but efficiency isn't guaranteed.

Wired connection isnt an option for me as of now, the router is about 20 feet away from my PC.

Like I've said, give the power line wifi extender a try. Something like this:

From experience those power line tp links are pretty terrible.
I know it's not what you want to hear but the best solution is a wired connection and 20 feet really isn't far at all when it comes to ethernet cables.
You could simply run it under the carpet or pin it to skirting board etc.

Correct, as these devices aren't designed precisely for heavily real-time intensive applications like online FPS but to cover a larger area with wifi connection.
