Computer won't boot up after installing new RAM.
Today have bought two new Samsung 1x8 GB 1600 mhz RAM sticks for a total of 16GB RAM, previously I had one crucial 1x8 GB stick, when i installed the two new sticks ( And removed the old one) my PC would turn on and then immediatley turn off and then it would turn back on again and repeat this cycle without ever booting up (Nothing was ever displayed on my monitor) I then tried both sticks on their own but I got the same result.
Does anyone know why this would be the case? Could it be that I have to update my Bios?
For referance my MoBo is a gigabyte GA-B85M-DS3H-A.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

(Edit: When I put back my original RAM stick everything works fine)

- Make sure the RAM is properly installed.
- Try only one stick.

I did both those things and it's still not working, any ideas as to why?

I suspect the RAM is dead or not supported on your mobo.

What RAM did you buy? I need to know the exact model number.

Try each new stock individually to make to test if one of them is dead.

Wait i Think I have pin-pointed the problem, on the gigabyte website on the Bios update tab there are 3 versions F1,F2 and F3. I currentely have F1, however version F3 states this - "Fixed system STR fail with some memory"
So does that mean that potentially if I update to version F3 it might work?

Okay, is updating your Bios hard/risky?

Okay, is updating your Bios hard/risky?
Its completely safe. Unless the PC loses power during the BIOS update then it will never turn on ever again (Oo scary!)

Okay Thanks! I'll just be really careful and heaviloy research what to do before I do it, thank you so much for all your help.
If BIOS is that old, update it to the very latest one.

Nope it didn't work but it can't be that both Ram sticks don't work, could it have something to do with voltage or power?
You have old RAM that works? Try that and Reset the CMOS Jumper, then Update the BIOS.
did you buy DDR3 RAM?

The Flash needs to be done on a stable system.

I have just looked up the list of compatible memory sticks on the gigabyte website, mine wasn't on it so I'm guessing I'll just have to return it to the store, I'll try this anyway though, maybe it will work.
