144 Hz 23-24 inch screen with good sound
I just bought an ASUS VG248QE and I don't like how the sound is a bit more muffled compared to how it is when using the ASUS VX238H, or when listening through the Line In jacket on the back of my computer (using some Logitech sound boxes).

Does anyone know a not massively expensive 23-24 inch screen that supports 144 Hz that has good sound?

I use boxes, but when inserted into the screen itself the sound is a little muffled, and at maximum volume it becomes distorted. That is not the case with the VX238H screen.

Can I expect other screens, like the VX238H (which is a pretty inexpensive one, but 60 Hz and without backlight so the colors aren't as bright), to have better sound? Is it worth refunding the screen I have now and try others? I don't want to get several other ones only to find out that their sound isn't the very best either. If this is kinda random I'll probably stick with the VX238H then.

I've never seen a monitor with good sound.

Don't buy a monitor for sound.

You all get your sound from your computers directly, either via onboard or dedicated soundcard?

depends on the Mobo, but for normal use the onboard is okay.

But I'm also playing consoles, and their audio is running through the screens, so I want a screen with good sound. I'm good with the VX238H, just need a tiny better one with otherwise same specs.

Or you know get a good speaker setup, which will cost a lot less than buying a whole monitor.

Would that work with consoles?

Does your console have digital optical output? If so, then you want to get a good sound bar / speakers that use digital optical, this will make things sound better, and it's a lot cheaper than blowing money on a whole new monitor you don't need.

My PS4 has, aside from the HDMI I'm using to connect to the screen, "Digital Out (Optical)" and "AUX".

Then what you do is get a good sound bar, or speaker setup that uses "Digital Out (Optical)" and then go into settings change audio to "Digital Out (Optical)" then problem solve, you save $$$, while getting good audio.

Even a cheapo 2.1 speaker set, like the Logitech Z323, would be better than any monitor audio.

Okay thanks I'll look into it.

Just for clarification, I wouldn't recommend the Z323, unless you really don't have much money to spend. It was mentioned to really put emphesis on how terrible monitor sound can be.

What would your budget be for audio? Currency and location helps.

1. You always plug your AUDIO into your Mainboard on the back of your PC.
2. Any cable, route, monitor, pc case jacks will create distortions.
3. Mainboard Audio output has always highest quality
