Looking for Alternatives to Microsoft Surface Pro 4
I am looking to replace my laptop with a Microsoft Surface Pro 4, or Surface-like tablet device, for school and mobile computing. The sticker price for a MS Surface Pro 4 was a bit of a shocker for one with decent specs (Intel i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD). Does anyone have recommendations for alternative devices that meet the below criteria?

Windows OS
~12" screen size
<= 3 lbs
>= 8GB RAM
Modern Intel dual core CPU
>= 8 hours battery life, light usage

Not exactly, but I need Windows for the programs I will run.

Then look for a well rounded Laptop.
You are not going to find a better Tablet really then Surface, but they aren't cheap.
Especially something powerful enough, with Windows OS on it.

Found a decent alternative, the Acer Switch 12 Alpha for $650. 12" display, included keyboard, i5-6300U, 8GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, fan-less cooling, Windows 10 Home. The battery life isn't as good, but it is a good value. Right as I was about to buy it, I spotted a good deal on ebay for a new Surface Pro 4 with the same specs. You were right, there are alternatives, but none of them quite measure up to the real deal.
