[solved]Twin Tower cooler; a few questions[solved]
I'd like to get a new CPU cooler for my PC. I want a big, quiet, high-power air cooler and I'm mainly looking at single and twin tower versions of the BeQuiet! Dark Rock. I have a couple of questions I want to ask, to help me decide which suits me better.

First of all, I'm a concerned about the weight of the twin tower. Would I need to remove the tower before transporting the PC, or is the backplate strong enough to protect the motherboard and CPU? As a complicating factor, my car isn't exactly a Cadillac. It's got low, stiff suspension and a very firm ride.

Secondly, it's $35 more expensive than the single tower version. Does the extra surface area and increased airflow give it $35 worth of extra cooling power?

And thirdly, it's got a whole extra fan. Will that make it noisier than the single tower version? Or will the extra airflow and bigger surface area mean it needs less RPM for both and thus run quieter?

Thanks.

The D15 does have a tad better quality, also twice the warranty length.
Some food for thought: re-use the two fans for your chassis.

Though, the Dark Rock Pro isn't a bad cooler either.

I know, but I'm not sure if I can justify the extra cost over the Dark Rock Pro. The Dark Rock Pro is the equivalent of $75 USD, and a D15 with fans equates to roughly $120-$140 USD.

If you can't use the leftover fans somewhere, then certainly not.

Alright, in that case I'll go with the BeQuiet.

Thanks a lot to all of you for your help and advice, much appreciated.
There is also the Scythe Fuma, which is $46 according to Newegg, com

Wolfey is in AU though, Newegg doesn't really help him.
Not going by the USD pricing that is.
Now you can buy from Newegg in AU, but the selection may differ for AU; if you want that, then click the US flag at the top of Newegg.com and change the Region + Currency.

Yeah, the Noctua fans are their downfall (I don't mind though), but quality, performance, and support are exceptional. Another dual tower cooler that is comparable is the Cyrorig R1 Ultimate. The Dark Rock Pro 3 is excellent too.

Thanks Kai, that's a great tip.

The R1 ultimate seems to match the Dark Rock at almost every level, and it's fractionally cheaper. It's also black and aesthetically it matches my motherboard, RAM and GPU even better. Looks like I've got some research to do.

After consulting some reviews, reading the instruction manuals for both and factoring in replacement fans I've decided to get the Cryorig. It's fractionally cheaper than the BeQuiet and has higher peak cooling at the cost of more noise. Since I have a soundproofed case, that's a fair trade IMO. It's also got the option of replacement fans further down the line, making it a better future inverstment.

Thanks for all your help and opinions, I appreciate it.
Np, have fun with it and overclocking your 6700k.
