CPU with > RAM Frequency 7700K
Hello,

I'm planning to mount a new computer, first I wanted to get a i7 7700K, but as I saw the maximum frequency is 2400Mhz.
Is there any good CPU (as the 7700K) with a high frequency support for example 3200Mhz ?

You need Z270 motherboard that enables you to run high Mhz RAM and overclock i7-7700K.

Still haven't found one which support a high frenquency RAM

I'm planning to get this one : Asus TUF - Z270 MARK 1

How do you know that a cpu doesn't support fast ram ? If you are looking here: https://ark.intel.com/products/97129/Intel-Core-i7-7700K-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_50-GHz
It's wrong, ignore what it says about ram. I Have an i7-5930k which according to that website only supports 2133mhz ram, but i have 32gb of 2666mhz ram overclocked to 2800mhz. No problems at all.

I imagine a cpu like 7700k should support even the fastest memory.

Any Z170 or Z270 will have memory multipliers to enable DDR4 4000+. I don't know what you are asking about. The officially supported frequency from Intel is historically conservative, but motherboard manufacturers have always supported higher RAM speeds. You can even see on ASUSs Web page for that board that it supports DDR4 3866+.

I have the 7700K and use 32GB of G.Skill Trident Z DDR4, 3200Hz, running on the Asus ROG Maximus IX Code Z270, have had it overclocked to 3600Hz, but you dont notice any difference, so it's back to 3200, going to get 32GB of 4000+ memory when it is more available in the UK

When I was looking at the 7700K specs on Intel's website, I've seen that.
And I've already heard that if you buy a RAM and MB which aren't compatible with the CPU it won't work. Well, I know for the MB for sure it won't work with a CPU which is not compatible, but about the RAM I'm still not sure (I'm talking about the frequency, I know if it doesn't support a DDR4, it won't work).

So I won't have any problem then, I suppose ?

I was not sure if a higher memory RAM speed > 2400Mhz is compatible with the 7700K which only supports 2400Mhz MAX as said on the Intel's Website.

So I was wondering if I buy a 3200Mhz memory RAM, will it work or no. And will the memory speed be underclocked to 2400Mhz.

I'm planning to get :

MB : Asus TUF - Z270 MARK 1
CPU : Intel i7 7700K
RAM : Corsair Vengeance LPX Black DDR4 2 x 16 Go 3200 MHz CAS 16

Basically, RAM compatibility is only limited by the motherboard. If you get Asus TUF - Z270 MARK 1, then you can use any DDR4 RAM up to 3866mhz. CPU doesn't even matter, you can get any 6th or 7th gen cpu, they all support the same RAM.

I have a i7 6700k OC 4.7
32gig 3200mhz 14CL trident ram for over a year now no issues yet my motherboard is a asus hero

To get true speed of RAM divide Mhz with CL (CAS).

3200 / 16 = 200
3200 / 14 = 228.5

So as you can see CL 14 is faster.
2400 Mhz CL 12 is same speed as 3000 Mhz CL 15 for instance.

I didn't find any good one with low CL that's why

its easy to find low cas speeds if a stick of ram doesnt tell you the speeds dont get it even if its like 4200 mhz

but honestly the speed of ram doesnt really have much of an impact (yes i know that some programs do run better on faster ram but the average user shouldnt worry about it much)

16 GB DDR 4 3600 MHZ costs only 160 euros at least in my country Greece. So get this instead of 3200 or 2800 mhz.
