Installing RAM - which slots?
MSI H170A PC Mate motherboard, two 8-GB DDR4 sticks.
First time I'm dealing with non-colored RAM slots.
I have no idea whether I should pair the RAM sticks n slots 1-3 (2-4) or 1-2 (3-4). Not a single mention in the manual.

MSI even have a video tutorial on this but the guy only installs one stick. Help?

MSI are usually 2-4 primary. My Z170A certainly is.

Just look in the manual; that info will be in there.

that's the thing, it's not.

Turns out there was a TIIIIIINY indicator on the motherboard itself which indicates that 2-4 are correct.

That was much less obvious than I'm used to. Thanks for the info anyway

Always insert memory modules in the DIMM2 slot first.

●● Due to chipset resource usage, the available capacity of memory will be a little less
than the amount of installed.

●● Based on Intel CPU specification, the Memory DIMM voltage below 1.35V is
suggested to protect the CPU.

●● Please note that the maximum capacity of addressable memory is 4GB or less
for 32-bit Windows OS due to the memory address limitation. Therefore, we
recommended that you to install 64-bit Windows OS if you want to install more than
4GB memory on the motherboard.

●● It is recommended to use a more efficient memory cooling system for full DIMMs
installation or overclocking.

●● The stability and compatibility of installed memory module depend on installed CPU
and devices when overclocking.
Most mobos work like this: 2 ram sticks go in slot 2 - 4 if you have 4 sticks put em all in. My msi manual told me to put it in slot 2 - 4 too akd iv got 8gbs in 2 sticks. Plus its a commen way of indtalling ram since it uses dual channel.

Each motherboard is different. I just quoted the actual manual, what more do you want.

It is. Most of the time the books tell you to read the other book lol. You should have the following: A book that came with the case, a book with the mobo, a book with the monitor, and i think a book for the cpu aswell as gpu. Or its what i got woth 3 pc builds.

All you need really is your Motherboard manual, everything else should be self explanatory.
But yea each product should have something. The issue is most will not, why? Cause we don't want anymore paper. You can go online and grab the PDF manual; even on your Phone/Tablet, etc. and also, even before you ever buy the product. Which for something like Motherboard, I sure wish folks would do BEFORE you buy them.
