HyperX Cloud II USB dongle broke...Should I buy a new dongle or a splitter?
Hey guys, my Cloud II's USB dongle recently broke and I want to get my headset working again.

My question is if the sound quality will be any different between getting another USB dongle or just using a audio/mic splitter. I don't use the 7.1 surround on the USB dongle so that isn't a problem.

Thanks in advance!

The Surround Sound is emulated anyways; which any Sound Card / Onboard Audio could do usually; like Realtek HD for example, using the Virtual Surround option in the Realtek settings.

It should work ok on analog audio. If that is a single 4-pole plug on the headset, then you need an adapter, such as this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M4Q7U60

I believe the 3.5mm is 4-pole. it has 3 rings on it. I have the Asus Z-87A mobo so idk if that sound card is better, but im pretty sure it is.

3 visible rings = 4-poles (this is Audio Out & In on the same jack)
You need an adapter, like I linked, to separate these for use on systems that have seperate 3-pole jacks for separate Audio In / Out; such as the Speakers Out and Mic In on a typical analog sound card or motherboard audio.

^ Click the OS you are using and get the Realtek HD Audio Drivers; and install that.
That will ensure your Motherboard Audio is up to date for Driver and that it has all the features via software.

I already have the Realtek drivers installed so I'll take your advice and try the splitter. If it saves me $30 then its worth a try. Thanks for the advice man!:B1:

I have this same problem. The dongle on it is broken. The HyperX Cloud II headset build quality is excellent, EXCEPT for the stupid USB dongle on it. On their website they used to sell the replacement dongle for $30, but I just revisited the site and I got a message that the replacement USB dongle is 'not available in your area.' What the heck?!

So, what can I do short of buying a new headset? Is there a cheaper alternative to the $30 headset. I don't need the 7.1 surround sound because I already have a great soundcard...

The links that Bad_Motha provided don't work. Please help...
