It should work ok on analog audio. If that is a single 4-pole plug on the headset, then you need an adapter, such as this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M4Q7U60
I believe the 3.5mm is 4-pole. it has 3 rings on it. I have the Asus Z-87A mobo so idk if that sound card is better, but im pretty sure it is.
You need an adapter, like I linked, to separate these for use on systems that have seperate 3-pole jacks for separate Audio In / Out; such as the Speakers Out and Mic In on a typical analog sound card or motherboard audio.

^ Click the OS you are using and get the Realtek HD Audio Drivers; and install that.
That will ensure your Motherboard Audio is up to date for Driver and that it has all the features via software.
So, what can I do short of buying a new headset? Is there a cheaper alternative to the $30 headset. I don't need the 7.1 surround sound because I already have a great soundcard...
The links that Bad_Motha provided don't work. Please help...
