i7 7700k w/ intel stock cooler
hey all,

i am picking up an i7 7700k tomorrow, ive already ordered an aftermarket cooler. Problem is, the cooler with not be here until early next week, and im incredibly impatient. is it kosher to run a stock intel cooler with it for a few days? i will not be overclocking, and mostly playing battlegrounds.

my mid tower is pretty well cooled with 6 case fans as well for what its worth

Gaming lol, gaming is no stress test. Also what's your clock and voltage? Base clock is fairly easy, once you start overclocking then thermal grows quickly. Intel Boost 2.0 is only 1 core, whereas Skylake-X Intel Boost 3.0 is 2 cores, don't get confused between 4.5 Ghz boost and 4.5 Ghz all core for example.

FYI my idle is 29C. ROG Realbench or Prime 95 v26.6 is good for temp check and stability check.
the OP original post was about not overclokcing and just playing PUBG though.

And you need to read better, OP asked if he can use a who know what intel stock cooler on the i7-7700k. Running PUBG will be 100C if that cooler came from an i3 or pentium. NH-D15 is 250w TDP, i3 stock cooler is like 55w TDP.

So you read the same thing i read and posted about Benchmarks and Overclokcing?

Did you actually read his latter posts? He asked if the Hyper 212 can OC or is he going to need a better cooler.

Wow people nowadays.

I assumed that was the cooler he said he oredered so that would be a different question. Why are you even arguing with me. I read the first post you read another. Ok Problem solved.

because you shouldnt comment on stuff you have no idea what they talk about. You missed half of the information in this thread and coming with an aggresiv behavior and pretending ppl cant read while youre the one that cleared havent read the whole thread.

i wasn't being agressive. You told me to read better and all i did was tell you what i read.

that is implying that you believe that Big Boom cant read and starts talking about stuff that wasnt asked. I call this an agressiv behavior and a bit insulting as you say that he cant read.

All I said therefor (what is kind of agressiv too) that you should start read everything befor commenting befor you give comments like this implaying that others cant read while you clearly didnt. No excuse to say I was just reading one post and then started commenting about stuff you dont know.
If is really such a concern just underclock the CPU for a few days, easiest way to do it without going into the BIOS is just

Control Panel Panel --> Hardware and Sound --> Power Options --> Change plan settings --> Change advancded power settings -->Processor power management --> maximum processor state .

simply change it from 100% to 99% should disable turbo boost, you can experiment with different % to find the best performance per watt. The % are based off the base clock not the turbo clock and their is a frequency that the processor will not drop below. It's pretty effective way to reducing heat and power, everyone running Windows could test this out if they wanted to.

all i wanted to know is if 212 evo was going to suffice to cool an i7 7700k with no OC... christ. lol
just get the hyper 212 evo its good and cheap
i installed the hyper 212 last night. ran PUBG for 3 hours straight, graphic settings on ultra, and max core temp never got hotter than 70 degrees celsius

That's fine, I have heard PUBG can push 100% CPU usage on i7-7700k because of unoptimisation so it's plenty fine temp wise. You could overclock it a bit more.
