Can heat damage a mouse pad?

My friend bought me a mousepad (Steelseries Qck+) and its so massive. Bloody hell my laptop fits on it. I only game on my laptop and I often keep it in the centre of my not-so-big desk.

The laptop vents are on the top-right so most of the time I feel the heat on my hands and it does get quite hot. Previously I used to just play on the desk and the area around the vent on the desk is really hot after a while.

So question is would there be any damage to the mousepad if I place my laptop on top of part of the mousepad?

It might leave a mark or if you have it placed on there for a long time (weeks, months) you might start to see that the mousepad is cleaner under your laptop.

I honestly don't think heat from a laptop can impact a mousepad.
Your laptop might get hotter because it's harder to dissipate the heat.

Edit: I would recommend to get a cooling pad for your laptop.

That depends on the material the pad is made of.

The Qck+ is made from a rubber backed microweave, sadly I cannot see what the top layer is, and it could be a wide variety of things.

Even with the worst laptops surface temps on the underside of the laptop will not get above 50-55c

At this temp it is highly unlikely to effect the bond between the fabric and the rubber of the mat and most fabrics can be washed at 60c with the only negative effect at this temp like to be the dye fading.

I would however advise if the laptop does get hot for prolonged periods to get a laptop cooler, if anything to raise the laptop up and allow it breathe more, if on a budget or you do not want to raise the laptop up too much, then get 4 cork coasters and place one under each corner (cork combustion point is 140c).
