CPU overclocking software?
Hello all, I currently have an
I7-2600k CPU. And I have a corsair h100i water cooler for it.

This CPU is clocked at 3.4 ghz.

My bios is from the alienware aurora r3 which is super restrictive. And I cannot seem to find a way to boost past 3.4. Is there any software I can use? Or anything I may be missing. I would like to be able to sustain around 4.2 if possible. But Any increase will help.

Intel extreme tuning utility. Personally I found software Overclocking for CPU are craps and do it via bios, but if you can't do it with bios then use it.

I downloaded that, ran benchmarks, and it blocked out most of the options, and it won't let me boost anything. I think my CPU may be a few generations to old and it isn't supported maybe. I'll dig around with it more though.
You may have i7-2600 and not k version...
Yup, non-K model CPUs are locked.

Install and run CPU-Z
click Validate > tick Extreme-OC box > Submit
share the provided web address it gives you, into here for PC Specs sharing.
If the motherboard (or CPU) is not up to the task, then no amount of software will change physical limitations.

As already said above, list your detailed specs via CPU-Z validation link.

If the cpu is a 2600, and not a 2600K, then the multiplier will be locked.

Just to confirm "As I think I have it solved".

The Frequency is what I have it clocked to correct? I set it to 4.2 max, and now the frequency shows 4190 MHz. Sorry if I am totally incorrect. I also ran a stress test using the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool. And the cpu passed everything without passing 61 degrees celsius.
Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool is not a stress test. It's a test to check whether your CPU is dead.

I went ahead and downloaded IntelBurnTest "Assuming this is a decent tool to use".

I had it go for 10 cycles, and it maintained stability the entire test. The temperatures were a little different though. I saw it peak at 83 degrees, however for the most part it stayed around 70-75.
That's good then, you are stable.
Thank you for your help
