stable oc for FX 8120
i want to oc my cpu.
ive already oc it to 4.4 ghz in the bios with core multiplier 22X and set the cpu vid voltage to 1.4125 and cpu nb to 1.2250 but if i start up amd stability test it crashed after few second and says hardware failure.
does somebody now an stable setup?
i have an asrock 970 extreme 3 motherboard and a ocz 700 watt psu.

If you haven't seen that yet ^.

The OCZ psu and 970 extreme 3 aren't the greatest of quality for max overclocking.

If you can get 4.2ghz stable be happy with that.

It's only 4+1 power phase ^

Every chip is different. For example: we can both have the same components in our PC and I am able to get a stable overclock at 5Ghz v1,2500 and you can't gop higher than 4,5Ghz at v1,3000 every chip is different.

yes i know.
i want a stable oc on 4.4 or 4.5 ghz not to high because of the temps

If you can not get it to run stable the chip is simply not able to run at those speeds.

in the bios ther stands its to be able to oc to 6.3 ghz(with liquid nitrogen of course :) )

That is what the mobo is able to do but your chip is not.

Oh oke.

Yes possible, but I don't think your mobo up to task

I have a stable clock now.
4.3 ghz on 1.4125 volt

See how low you can get the voltage to be stable while doing 4.2Ghz
If can get voltage down, would be better.
An extra 100-200Mhz will not make much difference, especially if you need such a jump in voltage to keep it there in a stable manner. As then all you end up doing is killing the CPU faster and creating heat when you don't need, or shouldn't be doing so.

But what are the cpu temps under load like P95 or handbrake?
dominicky Apr 13, 2017 @ 8:16am
61 celciuc
are you sure its not thermal margin and not actual temp?
My termal margins averaged 62 idle to 54 planetside2 playing at 1.275 volts 4.2 ghz

Thermal margin tells you how many degrees are left till you hit overheat. So 62C means you have 62 degrees left till you get too hot. A lower number is worse

Little high for my tastes, 61c is the threshold but if it's a disposable chip where you don't care if it lasts that's fine.

On 100% load it gets 61/62 degrees.
