Upgrade from 1866 to 2400 mhz ddr3 ram worth it ?( SOLVED)
Hi all this is my question , i curently have 16 gb of hyper x fury ddr3 @1866 and was just wondering would it worth it upgrading to 2400mhz ram like the hyper x savage or the corsair dominator ?
The pc is for gaming so im just wondering for fps increase .
System specs : i7 4790k , strix 1070 , ga z97x sli and currently 16gb hyper x fury 1866mhz running win 10 64bit .

Absolutely, you would gain maybe like 1 or 2 fps..

yes it is 2400MHZ is the sweet spot,make an XMP profile,at least for DDR 4, above that is a waste,depends on the chipset,voltage etc,brands like Corsair will make a difference,Fallout 4 is a prime example DDR timings make a large difference

That board lists ddr3 3100 as max oc, I would get the fastest ddr3 ram you can. The higher the mhz/ghz the faster data can be transferred to and from the ram. This will result in quicker load times but generally won't affect in game fps. Check in your bios how high you can set the ram frequency and get that speed of ram.

I would say 2400Mhz is the sweet spot for DDR3 and 3200mhz for DDR4. Above that price gets too expensive.
