Dell precision T3610 for gaming?
INTEL XEON E5-1607 V2
32 GB DDR3 Quad Channel
PALIT GEFORCE GTX 1050 Ti STORMX (4GB GDDR5 128-BIT)

What say you, fellow gamers? Any good for modern gaming? I am considering a new machine, and this one seems interesting.

Frankly I have no idea, like most people I've never seen a Xeon chip in the metal let alone tried gaming on one. I'd say it comes down to the price, if you can get this frankenstein for under $200 I'd seriously consider it. Otherwise I'd pass.

> Xeon CPUs are intended for heavy work applications, not gaming. They're great at crunching numbers, but for gaming they can be outperformed by CPUs a fifth the price.
> Xeon CPUs are obsolete. You'll begin to struggle with parts availability over the next few years.
> DDR3 RAM is obsolete. Finding a replacement set could be a nightmare.
> The GPU is barely powerful enough to qualify for gaming. It's one step above a GTX1050, and the GTX1050 is in turn one step above a potato.
> Palit aren't a great brand. Maybe they're getting better, maybe not - I'd still take a GPU from a more reputable manufacturer if available. One with better warranty and support.

INTEL XEON E5-1607 V2... This is a workstation it is not suited for gaming AT ALL. For half the price you can build a high-end gaming monster.

XEON CPU's are used in servers and computers that need to run calculations they have many cores and low clock speeds which is terrible for gaming.

What is your budget?

I am suprised this PC doesn't have a quadro GPU in it... (quadro GPU's are workstation GPU's)

It would've been preferable with a Quaddro. That Palit is barely above a Laptop card for performance.

About 800$. That's also the price of that Dell setup (and I'm afraid in my country it IS a good deal).

These dells are insanely cheap now. as in a lil over 400$ WITH a half terabyte SSD, 16 gig of memory, and a 4 core xeon with decent cache. If you get it without the hard drive, just slap a 250 or 500 gb ssd in as boot drive, you can use one of those ultra fast nvme drives with a pcie adapter. sadly you can't boot from the NVME for that reason. If you go to ebay you may find an even better deal on one, but you need to read the specs CAREFULLY.

You aren't gonna want to use the video card it comes with, though. the firepro w7000 that some of them have can game in a pinch, but even a 1050 will beat the pants off it.

Provided it has the 685w power supply (CHECK THIS WHEN YOU BUY!), and one of the better cpus in it (the quad core is probably better because of higher non turbo clock speed), you can add a real gaming card (a 1x80 or 1x70 series) in it. You may need to buy the two 6 pin to one 8 pin cable adapter if your card doesn't come with it.

you should be able to get one tricked out with a gtx 1660 TI for under 800$

You can also find "precision t3610 Gaming" pcs on newegg. they usually have a 1060 or 1070 of some sort in them. they are usually under 800$
