Fx 8300 or 8350?
So I have an rx 480 8gb (factory oc) nitro

DDr3 2100 32gb

Photon 700 watt

Windows 10 pro

Asrock 970a g3.1

Fx 6100 (stock)

Would the 8300 or 8350 big a better step up from what I own now?

I bottle neck in modern games and It sucks.

(no intel comments just wanting an answer)

I have an arctic 240mm cpu cooler..

Temps stay under 41c at all times
That'll work just overclock and you should be good
Save your money and get a Ryzen 5 and new MB when it releases Ryzen is leap and bounds better then the FX lineup. The 8350 will still bottle neck you.

The bad reviews are based around Ryzen 7 because of the poor gaming performance however from what I've been hearing Ryzen 5 will be much better.

If you go Intel then look at the i5 7600K or i7 7700K. And no I'm not the real Linus, I'm just a fan of the channel hence 'FTW' if I was trying to imitate him I would call myself 'Linus Sebastian' but as you can see I'm not.

I was about to say if you are im a fan lol
It sooo depends on the game how much or if you bottleneck.

If you plan on NOT switching your platform for a few more years then why not pick up a $130 FX8350 or $90 FX8300 and overclock.

Some games FX8xxx has an advantage over higher clocked FX6xxx ^.

Watch Dog 2 the RX480 could careless what color cpu you use ^.

Again with a stronger gtx1070 FX8370 who cares ^.

The games that brutalize amd FX framerates are Fallout 4 and GTA5 but they're still smooth and playable on FX8xxx.
Try overclocking your current FX 6100 and see what kind of performance that gets you.

As for a new FX CPU, I honestly wouldn't bother, unless you can get it cheap. You'd be better off saving for a new platform, whether thats based around a 7600k or a 1500X.

Ive tried over clocking Im terrible at doing it
New? Don't upgrade the CPU.
Used? Sure if you can sell your FX-6100 and upgrade to FX-8000 for a low enough cost maybe do that but it won't help much.

FX-4100 vs FX-8350 unlikely give all that much difference in a game. Notice I wrote FX-4100 not 6100 ..

You don't want Intel suggested so .. The better upgrade would be to sell the stuff you got an upgrade to Ryzen 5 1600X or whatever instead.

save more money for a new mobo so you can go intel. fx series is old and not worth it unless you get one for super cheap
