1920 x 1080 or 2560 x 1440 simply means more pixels/detail the higher the number.
1920 pixels wide x 1080 pixels high = 2,073,600
2560 pixels wide x 1440 pixels high = 3,686,400
1440 is approx 30% more pixels the 1080 so you'd get more detail and a better picture.
Therefore a 1440p monitor will require a better GPU, ruffly 30% better than a GPU a 1080p monitor would need to run a game at equal settings.
Basically, if you have a decent GPU or intend to upgrade in the near future go for the 1440p
I play CS:GO at 1440p, hasn't affected my aim. Worse case if it does just lower the resolution, still have a bigger screen so peoples head will be slightly bigger lol
because i went to this cybercafe in singapore once. They had 4k monitors like everything premium. But cs go felt so weird
1.7x more pixels. Not 30% more.
You need almost twice the power.
Thanks, screwed my maths up there.
2,073,600 x 1.7 = 3,686,400 and 1.7 is the same as 70%. For some reason I took 70% from 100% to get 30%. Thats the only way I can think of to explain how I got 30%........
Gonna call it a night, think my brain needs a rest ;/
Least some of what I said was right and helpful
That's why when people post up their in-game performance I always ask what res. 1440p and 1080p are worlds apart. So when a guy says "I get 100fps steady!!" "What res?" "1080p" I just laugh.
I alway ask for resolution too, see people ask for specs but resolution is often not requested. Honestly, though I should of known. Did the same (correct) calculations when I upgraded from a GTX970 + 1080p monitor to a GTX 1070 + 1440p monitor at xmas.
Could explain my reasons for screwing up, but, do benefit either way lol
