Pc restarts when I shutdown?
Hello, I bought a new pc days ago and I noticed that my pc restarts when I tell him to shutdown, it says "shutting down" and when it does, after 2 seconds it restarts! I tried to remove the option from windows "restart after system error" (or something like that) but this doesn't solve the problem, the only thing that solve the problem (for 1 day) is just turn off and back on the electricity, it solves the problem for 1 day (for example wednesday night it was restarting so I shutted it down and before restarting i turn off and back on the electricity from the power strip, when i turned it on yesterday it was working perfectly, i also tried to shut it down like 5 times and it wasnt restarting but tonight when i shutted it down for go sleep it restarted by himself so i did the same thing and right now if i shut it down it works normally, doesnt restart), sorry also if im a bit confusing but im just a bit curious what causes this problem, anyway im using windows 10, my motherboard is a msi h270 gaming m3, psu Corsair 550w, ram hyperx 8gb x2 ddr4, cpu i5 7500 (i bought all this hardware specs tuesday so i dont think theyre broken), thanks for the help

You might just have to force shut it down by holding the power button

Tried it and it restarts anyway

Have not seen this issue in a while, but old machines I used to build around AthonXP/Pentium4 had such issues sometimes; try a different power supply.

Try setting up the power option in Windows for: Power Button = Shutdown
Then try just pressing power button (not hold down) and see if that initiates the process normally.

in power options is also a "fast bootup" option, turn that off.
Then reboot and re-test the issue.
As that is always on by default in Windows 10.

Then new or not, you need to have someone with parts on-hand troubleshoot the whole PC.
Most likely is power supply or motherboard.

I don't see any GPU listed, what do you have?
You just using the onboard Intel GPU for now?

Which PSU is that Corsair?
a VS or CX 550 wost likely wouldn't be enough anyways.
Both of those models are also very poor.

If Corsair, best bet is something like their CS or RM series

That's different; that's more when your PSU is not good enough to handle the hardware (like GPU) under full loads, and it crashes/reboots.

Overall, if you really plan to buy a GPU like 1070 or better, get a good quality PSU.
Like Corsair gold certified or Seasonic

Did you update Win10 fully yet via Windows Updates?

Did you go grab and install all the latest drivers for your hardware?
Motherboard chipset, usb, sata, audio, lan, etc...

Okay thank you for the fast reply, when (and if) the problem comes back (because right now i tried to shutdown and it works perfectly) I'll try to do the things you said, if that things doesnt solve the problem ill try to change psu (hopefully amazon gives many days for refound or change the product), ill give updates :) (also im gonna change the power strip because i think is a bit broken a dusty as hell, it makes the cables move a bit)

Yes, windows 10 fully updated via windows update and also updated all the motherboard drivers

A question, should I update the bios? (via MSI Live Update)

Do you think WOL (wake on lan) is jabbing it to you?

In bios there's a setting to disable WOL and within windows CP/Devise Manager/Network Adapters right click select properties, click Advanced Tab, disable Wake On Magic Packet and Wake On Pattern Match.

Ps, it usually doesn't hurt to update the bios.
