Bought a bass hd gaming headset, having issues
So i ordered this off of ebay a week ago and got it today. Sound wise it works fine, but the mic is super quiet and no matter what i try to ajust its still quiet unless i move it directly in front of my mouth, which sounds better but still not as good as my old logitech mic that i had before i broke it. any known way to boost the mic volume and no mic booster in the realteck settings dont work. should i just download this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17prAr_bNYs

this is what i got http://www.ebay.com/itm/Surround-USB-3-5mm-LED-Stereo-Gaming-Headset-Headband-Headphone-with-Mic-For-PC-/182475253802?var=&hash=item2a7c5f682a:m:m5RjFB-Ke1mmvmz2T5kRosg

You can turn up the mic volume in the sound mixer settings, but more than likely the problem is you bought a low quality headset.

That is the very definition of a no-name brand X item right there.

There's literally no brand listed. It seems extremely low quality.

Well, you get what you pay for.

You can use a third-party application to amplify the microphone input but it won't increase the microphone quality. Have you thought of buying a clip-on microphone and using the headset as a pair of headphones?

that may be a cheaper route to go then buying a new headset again, what is a good clip-on mic?

i set it all the way to max and its still low...it came with 3 plug ins for mic, headset, and the usb was to just light up the headset to make it look cool. when i bought it, i thought it was just a usb that i could directly plug into the pc and it works like my old logitech mic.

https://www.amazon.com/Kinobo-Microphone-USB-Clip-Stand/dp/B016NWYEKK could that be good to get?

It's second-hand. However good it may have been, it won't be now. If somebody is selling it, there's a reason why - it may be broken, defective, and will certainly be dirty.

With respect, buying generic-brand trash is how we got to this situation in the first place.

From my experience, you get what you pay for. If you buy cheap, you will inevitably have to replace your hardware quite regularly. If you do research and find a quality product, it'll be a lot longer before you have to replace it. Try buying a good headset and microphone, somewhere around the $75 price range. It'll last you for many years and won't cause you any problems.

I particularly recommend the Cloud Revolver from HyperX. The audio and build quality are astonishing for the price, it uses the best OEM parts possible and packages them at a reasonable price. It's a lot more expensive than Walmart gear, but it'l work a lot better andl last you a lot longer.

Its what happens when you go cheap and buy a pair of 10 dollar headphones. I spent 192 dollars on my headphones + microphone and they sound amazing. Definetly worth investing in good peripherals. I have the Audio Technica ATH M40X and Blue Snowball microphone
