No. The 1700 should be more than capable enough. But Ryzen is still new so it has some growing pains it will only get better with time (if you update the BIOS of course).

No, if you maxed graphics settings the 1080Ti will be bottlenecked first before CPU. That's why 4K Ryzen7 go neck to neck with Core i7, GPU bottleneck.
Butter smooth thats what will happen combo Ryzen 1700+1080ti if you OC 1700 to 4ghz(if posible) you have almost 1800x CPU for price of 320$.

1700-1700x-1800x are exact same cpus only clockspeed plus boost and prices are different thats all but CPU's are identical.
They aren't identical, when they make 1800x chips, defects but usable are made into 1700 and 1700x. Top tiers are made into 1800x, that's why it can clock higher. It won the silicon lottery.
Thats not what i ment 1800x is better OC and higher clocks better die, but it's the exact same as 1700 if it comes to technical specs just lower clocks thats all yes it did not win the lottery:P

If you can clock it to around 3.9 or 4ghz its almost same as the 1800x non OC just a tiny bit less clocks for way less money.
