[Weird issue] Windows 10 and (CM Storm) Keyboard

So, I have already contacted CM about this some time ago, but they say the driver software is from Microsoft, which seems true. I always update all drivers.

The issue: whenever I start my computer, on login sometimes my keyboard is not registered on the USB. This happens about 4 out of 5 times. The solution is to unplug and replug the keyboard and mouse and then they work perfectly, which is ennoying because they have to occupy the front cover USB sockets to access them easily.

Do you guys think it is a hardware problem (there is also no back lights besides not responding)?
To me, that replugging works, it seems like a driver problem. Although 2 times (in 100) the computer shut down on unplugging keyboard (power surge?). Does anyone else have had this problem?

I had no problems on Windows 7 and have them since updating.

PS is Seasonic G-series 550 W (80 Plus Gold)
MB is MSI Z87-G45 Gaming

Drivers don't have any bearing on the power supplied by the USB port. So, it is most likely a bad keyboard or port.

Thanks, but a bad keyboard would also show issues during work no? This issue is exclusive to the start up. And a bad port isn't it either, I encountered it on the back panel ports and the issue is the same at the front.

Actually, I realize that on my laptop there is also this strange issue with the Audio Jack not recognizing a jack has been plugged during the Sleep time when waking up the laptop again. That is also fixed by unpluggin and replugging a Jack.
It is as if it just doesn't check what is in the port continuously (on log in screen)?

Regardless if the driver is working properly, a port supplied with power will light the keyboard up.

This is why I believe you have a power delivery issue on your USB port or keyboard issue.

Issues can be intermittent, fyi.

I have the same problem with my cmstorm keyboard. Every single time when I start my system I have to manually unplug the keyboard. I tried updating my mobo drivers but it didn't help.

It may be a BIOS issue that can be solved with a more recent version.

When the keyboard looks missing look into device manager if it's there with yellow or just not there. If not there try scan for hardware.

If the device is not showing up or appearing only on explicit scan then it is not a driver issue. MEy be port ot the keyboard. If same behavior on all the ports (try multiple from different hubs), then I'd rule keyboard problem.

If you're stuck with unplugging, you may get a USM extender cable and use the back port leavinf the front ones free.

I came across this issue some time ago on a client machine, turned out to be a mouse driver conflict. some controllers install a second mouse driver that can cause it too. (just thought that may be of help). For what its worth, the usb 3 ports if your using them do not work well for mouse/kb input for some reason on a lot of machines.

I was having this issue for a while. I kept repeatedly unplugging my keyboard until it worked again out of sheer laziness. Eventually the problem got so bad that this did not work after heavy usage for 2 days.

I checked everything. Eventually plugging both my keyboard and mouse back into the USB 2.0 sockets instead of 3.0, still did not work. After that I installed the product drivers from the cooler master website and unplugged it one last time. The keyboard updated it's macros and all the back lights came on. This worked for me.

If this is your only keyboard. Log into windows with the on screen keyboard and use voice commands on google search to get to the drivers website.

My keyboard is not faulty. You need to install the drivers. I've bashed it around and spilt all sorts of liquids on it. Mainly beer. Cooler master has made a rugged product here. My guess is that it's a fault with the windows operating systems default drivers.
