i7-4720HQ XTU????
Can anyone tell me what settings i should use in the XTU to get the best performance with the lowest temps? Bcz mine is getting way too hot (up to 95° and then it gets thermal throttling/Power limit throttling). But since i never done anything like that im pretty clueless!

I assume you mean intel extreme tuning utility. Since the cores are locked all you can do in terms of reducing temps is undervolting such as -0.30-60mv. I have tried on my laptop like -0.55mv and temps dropped around 3-5 degrees without any performance loss.
Ah okay, ill try that then :D ty
If it overheats at stock clocks , might try setting max processor state = 85% in the current Windows plan .

If OC is aimed , hardly to suggest something , considering its a laptop
Mhhhh thanks for the advices! I think ill send my laptop to Asus and let them put on a new Thermal paste and hope it improves :/ bcz my CPU is always thermal throttling/Power limit throttling
The right move ! Mine does the same but i ve done that above and kept it .

Mine is i3 2350M 2C/4T 2.3GHz . Tj max =85C . After the measure above 70-75C - average 72C under heavy load . I.e. 10-15C improvement (temp drop) Idle 40-50C

Now 40C

Also , I ve set passive cooling in Windows power plan

Did it get better ? Like i mean 95° shouldnt be the case... do you have the same processor? and if so, what are your temps? :D
You shouldn't do any undervolting and such things..if it gets that hot it means only one thing, the fan inside your laptop is dusty, you need to open it and clean everything (fan, side vents) + re-apply thermal paste, it will lower the temp by -15 or 20c, even in idle it will be much quieter. If it's still under warranty, you should send it to them and tell them to clean it or also you might try to clean the fan with an air compressor, but make sure the fan doesn't spin, block it with something thin through the vent, like a toothpick. Also one tip, be sure to use a cooling pad, you don't need any additional fans (they don't decrease temp from my experience) but cooling pad really helps because the laptop can breathe, if the laptop is placed on a wooden table for example, then that's really bad because the cold air can't get inside so it will reach really high temps and overheat instantly.

Even tho my laptop has its .. i dunno the english word.. but where the air comes out, is behind it, not under my laptop. Its an Asus RoG G751JY
Make sure any OC features provided by the manufacturer are disabled

Well the hot air goes out from side or rear vent, but the cold air goes in from the bottom.
Well i read in the RoG Forums that cool pads are useless for the G series laptops, many ppl posted there temperatures with and without coolpad and they were literally the same... wlel all i can do is wait and see if Asus fixes my temps for me :D Bcz i cant even play For Honor properly, my CPU temps are 93-95° and then it gets thermal throttling, so my FPS go really low and that makes it pretty unenjoyable^^

I know i had that issue 2 years ago when i still played games on laptop, my i5-3210m would go to 100c after 6 mins of gaming, i opened the laptop, cleaned the fan, used a quality thermal compound, after that i had around 75-80c max after hours of gaming, graphics card temp decreased by 20c too, and that silence in idle.

If its back is easily accesible you can grab compressed air to give it a clean and if you think you can do it also re do the thermal paste.
