What size screws are thumbscrews? I need to buy nuts for them.
I have a NZXT S340 case and the thumbscrews worn out the holes they're in, so now they are really wobbly and don't hold the GPU in properly, so I need nuts to hold them in place, I need to know what nuts to buy though. Thumbscrews are usually the same size as PC standard screws, like you use for the motherboard, but even then, I don't know what size they are. Help, thanks.

I see NZXT build quality hasn't gotten any better over the years.

Depends on the Case; not all Cases use the same threading for thumb-screws.

^ This shows the two most commenly basic threads for screws used in a typical DIY PC Build.

The larger thread are typically used for things like Expansion Slots, Motherboard stand-offs, PSU, 3.5-inch HDD. Stand-offs can of course differ which threading they have on the threaded end, and what threaded screw type is required for the Motherboard side of the stand-off.

Smaller thread are typically use for 3.5-inch Front Bay Devices, 5.25-inch Front Bay Devices.

I have seen some Cases where they did supply thumb screws that were using the smaller threading for the expansion slots, like in some Lian-Li for example. So they threading for areas like the expansion slots or side-panels can be Case model specific. But still is almost always using just these two common thread types.

If you can't fix the screw hole (stripped) for say where a GPU installs; try securing it via the screw ones, using a small zip-tie. If you try to force a slightly larger threaded screw through this same hole, you're most likely going to just make it worse. If you need the hole to be fixed, or made larger, have someone with the proper tools, re-thread the hole properly. This usually does mean you'll need to use a slightly larger thread size, so the damaged thread can properly be removed/shaved out.
