HELP!!! A russian viros got to my pc MAIL ru how do i remove it ?

I downloaded something and it got my pc infected and this thing just replacedy modzilla and chrome with mail ru. Help me remove it pls.

Download Malwarebytes, Adwcleaner and Hitman Pro and use them to make your pc virus free. Also after they deleted the virus you will need to manually change the starting page in your browser, you can simply use the reset to default option in your browser settings.

All of them. Malwarebytes will remove the virus, Hitman Pro will dubble check if the virus is removed and Adwcleaner will clean the registry.

Ok so i did all the stuff there and with the last thing it showed it deleted the mail ru and other russian malare stuff. But i even reinstalled both chrome and firefox and onchrome it showed the russian browser again i tried to reset it and now it looks clean. How can imake sure that i removed them ? Btw thanks man :)

Just run all the virus scanners one more time, if they don't find anything you are clean my friend!

Since these programs are buyable i got the trial versions so they last max to a month what do i do with them ? Should i just remove them until i decide to buy them ?

Only Hitman Pro needs to be bought when the trail version ends, Adw is completely free and Malwarebytes has a free version the only difference between the free and paid version is that the paid version has a realtime passive scan that will constantly check your pc for viruses in the background preventing infection.

Yes all of those apps; something every Windows PC user should have on the system anyways as part of their "PC Tech Toolbox"
You don't need ADWCleaner anymore though; MalwareBytes 3.0 comes with ADWCleaner and Anti-Rootkit built-in now.


Install those apps, run them, update them.
Then reboot into Safe Mode and load them up (only one at a time) and run full scans with each.
Multiple reboots will probably be needed to clear up all the issues.

Pay attention to your folders for junk; such as these...
C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData
C:\Program Files
C:\Program Files (x86)
C:\ProgramData

Sort them by Date Modified; this way changes and/or suspicious additions are much easier to spot.

The only way to be absolutely sure is to Format your PC and redownload everything. It takes a lot longer than using AV programs, but it's guaranteed to clean your PC completely.

For most it's quite simple, go to safe mode and delete all the crap.
If it really was something extremely bad, it would most likely infect your OS and have it no longer boot.

Actually it's much quicker to just wipe and redo the OS. You'll usually spend hours on a cleanup, even some simple ones. The OS can be redone completely and get back to where you were often in around the same amount of time, sometimes even quicker. Especially if you take the time to make an updated/fresh Win10 64bit USB Flash Drive.

Adw still has its uses because its more agressive than malwarebytes. If you put a empy folder in C:/ adw will be like "wtf is this??" and remove it.

Virus scanners will detect most "normal" viruses but onm a day 1 attack they are useless.

No see they no longer update ADWCleaner; they hired that dev and now any further updates to that, are integrated into MalwareBytes Anti-Malware. So the old app is pointless now; and sorely outdated.

Stay off of sites like Game Modding sites; only download files when you know the source for sure. Many virus are embedded in game mods and so-called free apps (like game related cheater apps; like those things made to unlock stuff in SP games); overall folks looking for these easy ways to do things in games and such; trust me, they are targeting you all, cause you are easy prey. Understand what it is you are downloading, who made it, and where the actual download source is. Many sites are setup to grab a download from a 3rd party mirror site; AVOID those.

I was thinking that but since im gonna upgrade my old pc im just gonna leve the laptop as it is. But thank you all for the replies.

Doesnt that mean that ineed the disc that had the windows ? Because the problem is that this laptop is made with windows form the old company my dad worked. And that probably if i reinstall the windows i might need to buy a new one :D
