Try a different download server in Steam Client, or whatever you are downloading.
Try changing the Modem/Router config > changing the Wireless Channel to something else besides the default one.
Others around you are going to be on various wireless channel# and that can impact your overall performance as well.
Wait. I think I know what you mean. A couple of days ago, I went to my network adaptor and changed it to 802.11b but it didnt really make it faster. What sucks is that my surface pro 4 can download♥♥♥♥♥♥just fine from the same distance. It can stream video at 1080p easy, but my computer take 15 minutes to load a 5 minute video in 1080p
So you can choose from the listing which to login to; as only device that support the AC 5Ghz would be able to even get on that.
I did find another place to hook in the cable that is about halfway between my computer and where it used to be but I can now only get up to about 2.7 Mb/s which is a lot better but is still a little slower than Id like it to be seeing as how I pay for fast internet.
What speed plan do you have with your ISP (download / upload speeds)?
So we know what your max possible could be. Otherwise just saying speed #s and thats slow, doesn't really mean much.
Remember the ISP speed plan is listed in MegaBits per sec
Typically when you download a file, it will show in MegaBytes per sec (1/8th of your actual ISP speed)
It is that very low download speed (3Mbps), but very high speed upload speed(220Mbs).
"Update the Realtek 8812AU Wireless LAN 802.11ac USB NIC manualy
and disable two options which is LdpcCap and StbcCap"
http://iptime.com/iptime/?page_id=67&uid=18157&mod=document
after that I have 210Mbps (DN) and 30Mbps(UP) (I don't know why upload speed drops;()
I hope it may help you. :)
You have things like "Buffer" sizes. Sometimes if the buffer is set too high, it can create issues and further delays in data transfers. The defaults are not always the best. Especially a high buffer on a slower machine.
But yes, Driver version helps improve things too; a majority of users never update their Network or Audio Drivers, cause they figure if it working, then it's fine. The thing is, you do look to GPU Drivers for performance benefits right? The same can be said for any Driver in general, for any device.
Drivers from where? Get the Driver from the branded site of the device maker.
change wifi to N (fastter than A/B/G) or AC (fastest), if you have it
If you want any chance of the WiFi doing a decent speed at all.
