Extra RAM issue
Hi.
I have a Gigabyte GA-H61M-D2H-USB3 mobo. Along with it I'm using RAM modules - OCZ 2x2GB (OCZ3OB1600LV6GK PC3 12800). I decided to upgrade my RAM value by adding another set of 2x2GB OCZ's (OCZ3BE16008LV4GK PC3 12800). Problem is when all 4 modules are in, my PC won't turn on at all. It doesn't matter which models are plugged in, and it doesn't matter into which slot as long as it is only 2 modules and no more than 4GB (in total). So RAM chips and sockets are fine (I have tried every possible combination). On a website, where my mobo has all specs listed it says: Due to Intel H61 chipset limitation, please use single-side memory modules when four memory modules are installed. Is it possible that I have not single-sided RAM modules. How can I tell?
Thanks for help.

On Gigabyte's site for your MB, you can go here for a list of compatible memory for your board[www.gigabyte.com].

If you don't see your current memory on that list, it doesn't mean you can't use it - it's just not been tested and verified. However, if you're trying to use two sets of similar memory and they're not working, then you're probably running into the double side memory limitation that is explained in the manual for your MB.

On that list of memory, the center column is for SS/DS. SS = Single Side and DS = Double Side.

If you insist on using 4 sticks of RAM, you need to make sure the ones you buy are SS so they can run on the motherboard. If you simply just want more memory and you're not sure if the memory your have is SS or DS, then see if you can find a set of 2x4GB memory to install. This way you have 8GB of memory and shouldn't have any issues.

This OCZ memory doesn't appear to be a valid model number. OCZ3BE16008LV4GK PC3 12800. Are you sure about the model number?

OCZ3BE1600C8LV4GK - this is a correct one. letter C were missing. Sorry.

Ok, so it is 99.9% chance I have a double sided RAM. Any suggestions for good modules? 8GB DDR3, gaming maybe.

Which one is better one single 8GB module or 2x4GB modules in dual channel?

2x 4GB in dual channel is the best bet.
