How Long Will It Take For Lenovo To Fix My Laptop?
So now that I moved on with life, I am going to ship it to Lenovo through FedEx. They told me it only takes a week (7 business days) but other people say it will take longer. Like do you mean 2 weeks or 14 business days?

What if they end up not fixing my laptop without me paying first? Should I buy my own internal harddrive or buy a new laptop altogether? My computer hasn't even been a year old and already it caused me so much problems.

Like not detecting enough WiFi networks, refusing to connect to my university WiFi. Or even slowing down from Windows 10 updates, and then my harddrive suffering from a mechanical failure. Discuss with your thoughts below.

Update: I already know how long it will take for FedEx to ship it to Lenovo. I still don't know the exact time they will take to fix it. Anybody who had their laptop fixed should give me advice. Read my previous thread regarding my dead harddrive for more information before asking questions.

> When you ship with UPS/FedEx they should've given you a tracking number. If it takes 7 business days, then it's 7 business days, but if it's going to be late, it may be within a few days later, but all the info can be found with the tracking number, and/or call them and tell them the tracking number to fill you all the info you need.

> I don't know how they work, but you have contact them about this.

What laptop did you get?

The issues you listed sound like two issues one the wifi chip is having an issue, could be loose cable, or defective product, the 2nd is the HDD which is "mechanical failure" if you mean you're getting corrupted files, BSOD on startup, or whenever, it could be OS, or HDD failing, can't say for sure.

are you fixed problem with HDD?

officially it seems 45\90 days (even where the procedure "repairing" in non-officiall services or in home (replacement parts) takes at maximum of 20 minutes like replace display matrix, LCD driver, HDD, cooler, etc.) and it will be shipped via official service, not by customer

At Lenovo, there are serious problems with the W10, especially on models, manufactured before autumn 2014 - with acpi, intel wifi cards(atheros not affected), switcheable graphics (intel+amd)

Your question doesn't provide enough information. It depends on the FedEx shipping time to get the laptop from you to them. Once they receive it, it will be 7 business days to correct the problem and that depends on what days they consider to be business days. That's usually Monday through Friday. Then I have to assume they will ship it to you and that also depends on how it's shipped.

You should really ask them.

Well they did give me a receipt which I assume has the tracking number. Also I was just being worried because my laptop suffered a lot of damage in the past. None of them caused harddrive failure.

Examples include getting oil and food smeared on the case (doesn't come off even with wipes). Another time I dropped my laptop to the ground, collided it with my desk, and even banged it against my fist.

Oddly enough, my laptop survived all that abuse. But it couldn't handle the lag which caused it's death. I honestly believe the stupid Windows 10 updates had a contribution to my laptop's demise.

Check out and read my previous thread on this forum for details. It explains everything about the problems of my laptop. And yes, my question does provide enough information, and check that thread if this doesn't.

in the future, consider buying SSD for system and documents, at least

drop affects the disk of a laptop, just in modern drives have a reserve and the mechanism, to carry out of such situations, but it is not infinite

judging from your description, for you are the ideal solution the problem would be to buy case of decommissioned military laptop (maked from alloy magnesium) to insert components of modern, put two large capacity SSD, and fill all with epoxy resin...
I want myself the same, but it's too expensive :steamsad:

Oh sorry I was going to edit my previous comment further. But then I went back a page so it got deleted. Sucks typing stuff on a phone right?

I was going to rebuttal everything the mod told me. Anyways, what you're writing to me is gibberish Seven7. Either start making sense or I will leave this thread and block you.

Like what the hell do you mean by SSD and decommissioned military laptop? What does dropping have to do with alloys? If whatever you're telling me to get is too expensive, I'll never buy it.
I believe he saying getting a SSD would be better because it has no physical moving parts, and a lot less prone to failure, for accidents such as *bumping the laptop onto the floor, or something hitting the laptop.*

The SSD would be great to have if you move a lot with the laptop, also the fast boot times, and moving files around faster, but that's up to you, if you want to replace your HDD with an SSD.

I'm not sure why he would mention "decommissioned military laptop" as that only if you want those extremely durable laptops that are meant to handle all kinds of situations, such as droping laptop from a 2nd floor, or etc, as far as I know. Plus I wouldn't recommend getting one.

#7 - exactly! SSD for OS and important documents
HDD - for backup and \ or games
in new laptops here at least one .M2 slot for small-factor SSD + inner room for 2.5" HDD\SSD + on models with DVD you can buy HDD-bay for third

but i spoke only about the case of military laptop:
inside the military laptop is quite old components - no one sells new military laptops in supermarkets. but the case can be used
my friends several times dropped his lenovo laptop(plastic), the last time i had to glue it from small pieces - but the data on the SSD still alive

"SSD for very poor": two of the same SDHC card on 32 \ 64 \ 128GB and link Send to Card in folder C:\Users\%your windows login(user)%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo\
once in week, sync data on second card
or buy USB adaptor for SD cards and solder it to inner usb connector, some laptops have free place for mobile SIM-card adaptor - place it there

You're starting to make a little more sense, but a lot of it is still gibberish to me. Like I told you, I'm not buying anything outdated or expensive. I may be clumsy, having broken controllers, smartphones, and laptops.

But I am not that clumsy, and you're just starting to piss me off. I might consider getting SSD only if Lenovo refuses to fix my laptop without me paying. But I highly doubt it since Windows 10 updates are definitely to blame.

I don't know if I disclosed it or not, but FedEx operates 24/7 (or where I went). So it will take two and a half weeks instead of three. But Lenovo still operates only during the weekdays and regular business hours. I'll use my parents old tablet to take lecture notes then.

By the way, my laptop isn't as weak as my phones. The case is made of several alloys; there is plastic but there is also metal. The cases of smartphones are usually plastic and very thin metals like aluminum that easily breaks. My laptop also doesn't have any DVD, CD, or Blu-ray drives.

For anybody who is curious, here are some of my laptop's specs. Intel Core i5 (Dual) @2.30 GHZ, Windows 10 X64-Bit OS, 8 GB RAM, 2 TB 2.5 " SATA HDD, USB 3.0, HDMI 2.0, 14" Multi-touch Display (10 fingers), 360 rotation, Intel HD Graphics, and I forget the rest.

When you get your laptop, make sure to bump this discussion, this way it be less work for you instead of having to type up a whole new topic, and makes it easy on everyone.

If you plan to get an SSD, it will depend on the budget on spending for one. Have a look on this link, I have filter the list for 240gb and up, as well showing lowest to highest cost.

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/products/internal-hard-drive/#t=0&S=240000,10000000&sort=a10&page=1

Going by those specs I'm going to guess it's one of these i5, 6200u, or 6300hq. Since it's using i-gpu "Intel HD Graphics," it be great for office, media, and/or some less demanding games.

Yeah I'll keep bumping this thread when there is an update in the repairing and shipping process. Finally got and using my parent's tablet which I'll be using while my laptop is gone. The touchscreen is so much bigger and more sensitive!

I'm only going to buy new parts for my computer if Lenovo refuses to fix my laptop without me paying. But that is an extremely low possibility as explained before. Yeah, the official specs on the Lenovo site are vague so I couldn't tell you everything.

I know that my laptop is very weak but it's mostly used for typing lecture notes and assignments, as well as browsing the internet. Playing video games was something I only recently did as I got tired of mobile games after the first semester.
Alright, if you ever need advice what to go for if they can't, or won't fix your laptop, we gladly give help you out, on picking out an SSD.

Also if you get your laptop back into working condition, and want to game, I would recommend using emulators such as N64, PS1, etc... Giving you a larger list of games to enjoy.

I'm pretty sure talking about piracy that isn't in a legal context will get you permabanned from these forums. You don't have to heed my advice but a moderator viewed this thread in the past.

I already know to get my own internal hard drive if they refuse to fix it free of charge. Once I get it back, first I'll play Left 4 Dead to retrain my reflexes and then move on to Left 4 Dead 2.
The emulators themselves are perfectly fine, just that getting the BIOS, and Games will be on your own doing, as you can get them by owning a physical copy of the game, and following the guides.

Feel free to ask any other questions, if you have any hardware related questions.

Okay I'm going to bump this thread to give some important updates. If any of you are Canadian, you should know that this Monday was Family Day. I'm not sure whether FedEx still operated that day because it's a provincial and not federal holiday.

Therefore, they're not required to stop shipping goods unless they choose to. Also, I figured that while my laptop is not with me, should I use the laptops at my university's library for gaming? They let me install programs, use it for 5 hours, and I can bring it wherever I want.

Some of you may be skeptical if Steam games can run on an old laptop. Don't worry though, since it's running on Windows 7 OS and has Intel Core i5 Processor. I'm only going to be playing Left 4 Dead and maybe Portal to retrain my reflexes.
