HyperX Cloud 2 vs Plantronics RIG 500
My current headset, the Turtle Beach Earforce Recon 320, is ok but falling apart.

I'm looking at the HyperX Cloud 2 and the Plantronics RIG 500.
The Clouds cost $109 AUD and the RIG 500 is $86.

Which one should I get and feel free to give me more options and recommendations.
Thanks!

Mate, where are you getting the HyperX Cloud II for $109 AUD and RIG 500 for $86? I have been unable to find prices that low for them!!! I also face the same choice as you, so would like to see what others think. Thanks a load
I would recommend the HyperX Cloud II because it has very good reviews from mags and users.
I'm using a Beyerynamics DT770 Pro which offers great sound but has no mic so you have to buy an external one.

How expensive would a good mic be. I was going to buy a pare of studio quality headphones however now have started to skype and play games. Would a mic cost me too much?
I would recommend the HyperX Cloud Revolver. I bought a pair for $99 AUD a few months ago and I've been absolutely blown away by the bang-for-buck.

The audio quality is sensational for a headset in this pricerange, the earcups are light and very comfortable and the headset itself is strongly built. I'm also impressed at how little my hair gets tangled in them - a problem I often have with affordable models.

Studio headphones would be worlds better, but for their usual $120 price they're unbeatable value for money. Let alone knocked down to $99.

Does anyone know if these headphones audio would compare to a audio technica m30x or m20x?
Would also take studio headphones and a seperate mic, but that's hard with 100 bucks..
You could also take a look at the Sennheiser pc350 it's on amazon for $99.
- 3m cable
- 3.5mm jack instead of usb, + adapter for consoles etc.
- Noise cancelling
- Stereo

Coz of the Sennheiser quality, maybe the best bang for the buck.

I can't afford both mic and headphone then, I value headphones more though. Any suggestions?

I had many different headsets and headphones like Plantronics, Creative, Steelseries, AKG, Sure, Sennheiser, Beyerdynamics and so on and if you can't effort the combination mentioned above you should be fine with the Cloud II. They have very good reviews, the Cloud I too.

I use a lapel microphone[www.amazon.com] with my Samson SR850[www.sweetwater.com], I just clip it to the cable near the left cup and can easily move it to clip to my collar for better clarity. A few zip ties keeps the cables in order, and if you don't have a mic at all you can also use a webcam mic in a pinch...

Sennheiser 560s with Rig Plantronics 500hd sound card dongle..omg best audio ever for footsteps

yeah, I have heard those sound cards that are in line that process audio even better would improve audio quality

I have a cloud hyperx headset of my own. It already has an inline sound card

Would stacking them benefit me at all? Lol...serious question
