For comparison: FullHD is 1920 x 1080.
The resolution itself doesn't change anything in color, it makes the image sharper and reduces aliasing.
Personally i wouldn't recommend a 4K monitor as of yet (unless you think is worth it and you have the money and a pretty powerful pc).
Instead you might want to rather check FullHD monitors or WQHD Monitors (with a resolution of 2560 x 1440; again if your pc can handle it).
If you have a few thousand bucks gaming pc that could be worth it. If not, then i would not bother with 4K.
The point of a 144hz monitor is that you can run games at that framerate. You will NEVER be able to play a modern game at 4k and 144 hz if you dont own an absolute beast pc.
And i mean BEAST, as in several thousand bucks.
I'm confused by your last statement though. Do you have a 4K screen and want to get another 1080? If so you dont need another 1080 and it will be a waste since they don't make 4K monitors above 60Hz at the moment.
I use a single 1080 for 4K and it runs great.
