Windows keeps playing an annoying notification sound, and I can't make it stop.

I turned off notification sounds for apps, and it still does it, sometimes to the point of insanity (one every 3 minutes) It never tells me what program is making this noise, nor if it's not a program what the alert means. It is driving me crazy. Can someone please help me?

For me it is every 3 seconds, and I found out it was the device disconnect sound, sometime it pauses, and continues, but even with all USB devices unplugged, still happened.
Edit: I checked task manager, and discord is not in there, discord has been disabled already, so that is not the problem.

at my end it was a dying mouse
new mouse no strange connect disconnect sound

yeah

usb device of some kind is typically the cause, and it may be dying or the cable/connector is loose.

Sometimes it's a Bluetooth radio notification (in my case, BT headphones ran out of charge and disconnected)...

Turning of Windows sound profile wont help. I found solution today.
Why don't we identify what windows sound is doing it and delete it from system lol?
You will need a program called UNLOCKER to be able to delete the sound from your PC (because we don't have permission to do so and we don't want to tinker that awful permissions crap of windows security).

1,Go to C:\Windows\Media
2.Make a backup of Windows Notify System Generic.wav with Win rar.
3.Download Unlocker program and delete Windows Notify System Generic with it.
4.The End. NO FILE / NO PROBLEM LOL

unplug usb devices to see which is causing the problem
or check notifications to see what it is

worst case, change windows sounds or delete the wav
but windows not making the noise is not fixing the problem

I had this problem and it was because my phone was plugged in to a dodgy USB port.

I had this issue as well, and after a long time of staring at my system tray and searching trough sounds, I noticed that discord was the culprit. the AFK channel in my community discord was not connecting correctly and would make a sound evert three seconds. I found it by right clicking on my speaker icon and selecting sound mixer and expanded it to show every running program. when the sound played, the only bar that moved was discord. I hope this helps someone!

Me too. Discord was the culprit and it was making the sounds. Turned it off and there we go :D
