Strange. I extracted the contents and tried to get windows to install the drivers from the extracted folder but windows had a popup saying "Windows could not find driver software for your device". Thoughts? What am I doing wrong?
Because you're allowing Windows to automatically find the drivers. It's not going to know what you want it to find. I've mentioned earlier that this has to be done manually.
Any option that allows you to open up file explorer which is the little window that has a display that starts you off in the C: drive. You'd want that and then you'd have to navigate to the driver's folder and point it there.
Extract the files through System32 and in the driver's folder. Then run the driver search again but go through it manually, otherwise, Windows is just going to continue skipping it over and over.
I did not extract to System 32 (I don't want to ♥♥♥♥ anything up in there), but I have extracted to multiple locations on all my hard drives only to have the same issue over and over. I am also manually pointing to the folder with the files (for example my folder location was C:\Users\(username)\Desktop\20656928_cc082f0b7b6ed5b7d83f61fd19f102f115de30da).
Any ideas?
I have the PDP Camo controller and got it to work on Windows 7. You might bump into a Visual Basic C++ error after installing, but otherwise it works.
I contacted directly the customer service. And you can find the discussion bellow :

Dear Jean ,
Thank you for contacting PDP customer support.
We're sorry you couldn't find the drivers for your controller and we will gladly help.
The PDP Xbox One Wired controllers can work on a PC. If the controller does not work immediately upon connecting to a PC, then you may need to update the internal Microsoft drivers on your PC by updating the Windows platform. The Controllers are compatible with Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, as long as the latest updates are installed.
Note: As the Controllers use the official Microsoft Xbox One controller drivers, there are no separate drivers available for download. Microsoft made the Xbox One controllers only compatible with Win 8.1-and-up, so we're sorry to say that the controllers can't be used on older Windows versions or MAC PC's.
Best regards,
Monty

HERE IS MY ANSWER OF TODAY (29/01/2018)
Hello DPD Team,
Ok so, 2 solutions, install windows 8 or 10 , or never ever use PDP products ;)
No seriously, this is a bad news. I won’t switch to windows 8 or Upper, because 7 is enough and the computer already installed on this version of windows. How many windows 7 users on earth? all of them mustn’t buy a DPD product,… this is something good to let us know ! no where on your website we can find this information, of course…
A the end, I already used this product (Wired controller) since one year. I remember well it was a disaster to install on windows last year (just after buying). I re-install my computer last month (and choosed windows 7, because I have the right to do it !).
don’t hesitate to propose me a real and alternative solution, if possible
best regards
its under support, find the controller you are using, then hit the ""can i use this on the pc?" option, it will link you to the driver you need

I just downloaded those 2 files from microsoft (because I had the error 37 cannot initialize..), and viola; worked like a champ.
Just FYI for those still not getting the controllers to work. Hope this helps.
I had the same problem with connecting PDP to Win 7 but I solved it. I have
Win 7 64x
PDP Wired Xbox controller - Royal Purple
I bought the controller knowing that on Win 10 and 8 the OS would install the drivers automatically and Win 7 needs the drivers from PDP support site. Steps:
- I plug the device, OS recognizes a new device and rejects it
- went to EU PDP support site, find my controller (well, it wasn't there so I choose the remaining versions Wired blue, orange etc.) download the drivers, install, no improvement
- I followed the steps you described, tried manual Xbox controller install, tried Win Update to sort it our for me, the Update service didn't even recognized that it needs to download new drivers for the device
- spent like 4h trying everything, then gave up and packed everything to get a refund
- as a last resort, I wrote to support but I was already convinced that's useless
And then it was solved.
Apparently, I needed to download the drivers for "PDP Legendary Collection: Deliverer of Truth". That's right. Drivers for my purple controller were the ones for Deliverer of Truth, BUT also:
Legendary Collection: Deliverer of Truth
Battlefield 1 Official Wired Controller for Xbox One
Titanfall 2 Official Wired Controller for Xbox One
Mass Effect: Andromeda Official Wired Controller for Xbox One
Halo Wars 2 Official Face-Off Wired Controller for Xbox One
PDP Wired Controller for Xbox One – Royal Purple
And needed to be downloaded from US support page. I got a link, downloaded the 2mb file, uninstalled the controller via Device Manager, then installed Deliverer of Truth drivers and it is working like a charm.
Nowhere on their page it is written that I would need different then stock drivers for the controller which only difference is COLOUR. Lost 4h but with Support help it worked.
