Any Good Graphics Card Suggestions For A 300W PSU Computer???
My Story: I am currently saving for a i7 7700K and GTX 1080 PC but this is quiet far away (late this year/early next year) so I wanted something to hold me on untill then. I have been looking at loads of GPUs from the 550Ti to the HD 7780, GTX 770 and even as far as a R9 290X. But all this seems a little bit overboard if it's temporary. Plus I would have to buy a more powerful PSU which if I did I'd rather buy a new one when it came time to build my 'real' PC as my current case is kinda disgusting and using a part for it in my new PC later this year would ruin the new feeling of it. So i'm just wondering what GPU I should upgrade to that will work with my 300W PSU, which keep in mind is around a decade old so it proabably wont even be able to give out 300W. Furthermore, try to keep suggestions cheap, as it is temporary. Also I am sorta a hoarder when it comes to packaging so I would want to buy one with its original box, not sure how this changes anything, but there ya go.

Finally, I am currently using a AMD Sapphire HD 2600 Pro with 256mb VRAM, so reallyanything is an upgrade. lol

What are your current specs, besides the 300Watt PSU?
dnklgrn 29 ENE 2017 a las 15:10
Only options are low power GPUs, but 300W tells you nothing about the quality of a PSU.
700W no-name-crap-PSUs offer less power then a high quality 400W psu, like a be quiet Straight Power E10.

I'd go with a GTX 1050Ti which only draws power from the PCIe slot, no extra power connectors.

i'm thinking way way way less than that, cus first off this is temporary, so spending 120 pounds on a low end GPU isnt to my liking, I could get the GTX 770 which is more powerful for less than 80 pounds. But even that I would say is too expensive and draws too much power. I'm looking for something older and cheaper. But thanks for the suggestion

I'm not sure it would be worth it wasting money on such an outdated PC.
That's a CPU that's NINE YEARS old! When that thing got released Obama wasn't even president yet.

the CPU isn't that bad to be honest, it is great in comparision to my current GPU. But I neeeed something to be able to play more games on to relief this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ exam stress. lol i'm not asking to play on ultra settings tho, medium 1080p is all i want with atleast 40 fps surley there is an old card for under 40 pounds that can do this?

Used GTX 750 or 650 if you can find one cheap.

do they both use under 200W under load? also i have been looking at the 750 and 750 Ti but they go for like 70 pounds which at that price I could get a 770 which would proabably still be better value for money even if I had to buy a better PSU aswell

Well, of youre not looking for a 'good or great' gpu. Why not take a look at something like a Radeon HD6450 or similar? If not mistaking, it has 1gb and is about 35/40 bucks?

GTX 750 and 650 both work with 300W PSU. Some Ti versions will draw more and need 6-pin power cable from PSU but just 750 or 650 are pretty safe bet.
Some GTX 750 Ti versions without factory overclock that dont need 6-pin power cable would work too.
Honestly with what you got there you need to scrap everything anyway and build entire new rig, there is basicly nothing to use in there since it's so old.

Just keep saving, you've been gaming on that machine for 9 years, what's another six months?
Mike 29 ENE 2017 a las 15:45
Btw, I was checking out the games you are playing and I'm really curious what FPS and settings you have on Rust!
My 'old' R9 270x could run okay, but the GTX 970 I own now was pretty necesarry to have good quality and good fps xd

well I am doing so later this year, i'm going all out with a GTX 1080 and i7 7700K, but I need something cheap to last me untill then that doesn't require a power supply upgrade

hahaha, i'm glad you've asked everyone asks this lol but I get around 10fps on lower population servers on 768p and low settings constantly stutters though so I wouldn't call it playable and if there are alot of bases it will dip to about 4fps and freeze every couple of seconds so it's not playable at all unlesss there is under 30 people in a server :(

well actually thats not true, I did game on this PC from ages of 7-9 and then I took it in to get fixed and viruses removed cus I ws a stupid kid then the guy didn't remove the viruses he just put in that GPU this was like in 2009. Then I moved onto consoles and my PC got thrown away, but my grandad has the same PC so I took his PC from him like a couple of months ago and I found the GPU I had in my old one and I put a better PSU in there from a PC I had in my attic. but these few months/weeks have been horriable I've had to refund arma 2 dayZ bad company 2 cus it wont run them I would have noosed myself if I'd been using this thing for 9 years lol
