i7 6700, gtx 1080, 32gb of ram, super low fps

can anyone please help me fix this, i honestly dont know what to do, i installed my drivers but its still such low fps on games

what powersupply do you have?
how many running processes do you have?
what resolution?

To get most obvious thing out of the way - did you plug your monitor to the motherboard or GTX 1080? If motherboard then it uses CPU integrated graphics instead.

1000w one, only a few like discord steam and google, 1600 x 900

it is plugged into the graphics card, not the motherboard

GTX 1080 is massive overkill for 1600x900 so it certainly should not be slow, it's usually used with 2560x1440 monitor.
You got the drivers for GTX 1080 from Geforce website, right? If you used the disk that comes with GTX 1080 then this is usually hoplessly outdated driver version.

Did you actually install it? Downloading it just gets you the .exe file to install the drivers, if you didn't do that your system won't run properly.

yes i actually installed it, im not that stupid okay lol, i think im going to try using ddu, restart, install drivers again

I would check temperatures first. Download HW Monitor, run it on the desktop, and while it's running boot up a game and play it for half an hour. Report back with the Minimum and Maximum CPU and GPU temperatures.

At such a low resolution for that setup you could be hitting a bottleneck
That res is supremely low for that system

DDU is definitely a start
CUSTOM INSTALL
Only install the driver and PhysX, NOTHING Else unless you specifically need it.
That'll help limit possible causes.

An i7 should run somewhere between 45 and 65 degrees, anything above that and you would need to think about upgrading your cooling. Anything about 75 degrees is starting to be a concern.

40 fps in borderlands
