Just get one that plugs into an external port, very simple, then u have a card reader for every machine.

Also, internal optical drives are always SATA. I'm too lazy to look up exact speeds, but I'm pretty sure cards are faster than discs most of the time.
Case=Versa H22
Disconnect USB 3.0 Header used by your Case
Connect USB 2.0 and 3.0 from Card Reader (two connections) to those headers on Motherboard

Look up "eSATA Multi-In-1 Internal Card Reader"
The sata version are all internal hubs as such, rather than external. They also tend to have a bunch of USB ports added too.
For example:

Thats the same thing, just happens to have an eSATA on it; not helpful.
It uses Sata cables... (ignore the eSata port, that was just as example of what to search for, as most support eSATA, USB, and multi-card reading)
There's many to pick from...
Perhaps I'm not understanding the question, but there's lots of SATA connected card-readers. I'm just saying to make it worth your while they have additional stuff, such as eSATA, USB, etc. Else why would you want them?
Kingwin Multi-Function LCD Fan Controller Panel with USB 3.0 and Hub Cooling:
https://www.amazon.com/Kingwin-Multi-Function-Controller-Cooling-FPX-004/dp/B00DPA28R0
Get one with a fan/temp monitor perhaps?
As for it also having a USB cable, well that's because they also support USB ports.
EDIT: Double checking and yeah it still uses the USB for the card reader component of it. This is due to not requiring a device driver for it in Windows (also doesn't need that much bandwidth so can happily run via USB 2.0). So I guess your right, I just wasn't looking deep enough into the question.
Also, just to be clear, if I were to connect it (or something like it if it isn't the right size) to the SATA ports on my Mobo and nothing else (except power obviously), could I use it as a card reader, or would I need to connect the USB connectors to my Mobo?
