...and when you do it, then make sure not to mix up random RAM sticks together. More isnt always better and in you case it ignores alot of basic things incl. Dual Channel...
Lastly for case, depending on if you are going to get something to show off, get NZXT. If not just get a Carbide Series 100R or somehing like that, you can always just get something on sale. I got my Corsair case for $40.
If i was going to do it again for a case, i would of got a silent case.

Build around a nice open case, a reliable beefy PSU and tons of quiet fans for overall great airflow.
And build around 7th Gen Intel or AM4 Ryzen; there really is not much else worth choosing. Unless you want old stuff that wont really be any better then what u already have.

If you're willing to throw a more moderate amount of $ at it then the Ryzen 5 1600/B350 mobo/2x8GB DDR4 is a good idea.

I'm not sold on the idea ^ of the r5 1400 let alone the lack of use the Ryzen 3 is going to offer, r5 1600 with moderate overclock is the way to go even over i5s.
