Do you really need 16gb RAM for gaming in 2017 ?
NO.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKIavpEQQGg

8gb of RAM (2x4gb) is MORE THAN ENOUGH for 99,9% of games at 1080p & 1440p.
No difference in game stability or feel. Runs AS SMOOTH as 16gb.

Why is it overprice? I don't know why do Apple overprice their products, why haven't we found other intelligent beings in space yet, why do we exist? Questions we will never know. Or the fact that Dell can charge whatever they want.

Well Apple tricks customers into buying it and some people are fooled because they think that Macintosh is easier to use and more capable than Windows. When really it takes up lots of memory and ruins your hard drive but only people using Macintosh for simple things like powerpoint make it seem better for stuff like that. Because they are usually computer noobs and Windows is the best. Macintosh is an evil curse and it corrupted my hard drive twice so I got rid of that garbage. Macintosh may trick some average people and make it seem easy to use but I know that it's not capable of doing as much as Windows because its a heap of bial.

8GB is bare minimum for almost any Android Developming with debugging with Android Emulator.
But for gaming purposes only 8GB is enough in general, but my bet on 16GB - because 16GB is more than any current console does have. Remember, devs who porting games from consoles to PC very lazy.

I never heard of a Mac OS goes out of it way to damage/ruin HDD, unless there was a Virus/Malware/Trojan involed in doing so, and I don't know where your pulling this from, I would like to see the soruce for this, unless this only happens to you alone, and no one else. Also I seen OS/Files, gets corrupted all the time over the forums, and etc, may it be due to bad installs, user deleted something they shouldn't have, got a Virus/Malware/Trojan, or even a failing/defective HDD.

Also Apple doesn't force anyone into anything, but they do throw marketing schemes, just like many other companies, which some people make impulse decisions of buying things because of how it looks, feels, smell, and/or sounds good to them. Here a good example, if you're not aware, look at all the products from each tech/entertainment company that has the words "GAMING" "VR" "READY" "PRO" and so on, that's slap right on their products, compare to their other products, and the competitors products, and you will realize, majority of them are trying to market to people to get their attention, may it be good, or bad, that just how the business world works, because they need to make money somehow, even if slapping random things, that gets people to buy their products.

Now there no denying what Apple trying to do, even if someone tries to defends it, they have nothing to back it up, so yes Apple trying to take advantage with marketing schemes, and don't they're the only company that's doing this, as there more just like them, for many different things.

Also I didn't get your answer to your claims, because when you try to compare a alien brand product to their competitors laptop/desktop, or to someone building a desktop, you somehow see a $100 - $500 price gap, which doesn't justified for that gap, if you could save, which you're getting the exact/similar hardware specs wise.

Link them, and we'll point out the differences. Theres way more to those prices than just RAM.

Overall here's the way I've viewed Laptops for the most part.
> Buy a Laptop based around your needs, and this means around core components you generally can't change, such as overall features as a whole, ports, CPU, GPU, etc. Now if you can find such a model to your liking with CPU + GPU that meets and/or exceeds your needs, you should be fine to get that model with lesser/cheaper RAM and Drives from the start. Why would you do this you ask? Well because it is generally cheap (usually) to get less RAM and overall Drives from the start, then spend the money to buy better/more RAM and Drives yourself and simply install them yourself. Such as maybe getting the Laptop with 1x 8GB and a mechanical Drive. Then once you get the Laptop, go buy another stick of 8GB that matches those specs, since most Laptops can't use higher Mhz RAM, tighter timings, or XMP. And then get yourself some sort of SSD and then install that as the Primary disk drive. Then have a Win10 64bit usb flash drive at the ready and install the OS fresh to your new SSD; wiping out all that "OEM" junk you do not need. Then wipe the HDD clean and use for general storage, downloads, games, etc... As far as Drivers & Software, make note of all of that before you swap drives and/or wipe out the HDD. As you need to see which devices/specs the system has from within the pre-installed OS, before wiping anything; then you'll know what all to download for Drivers/Software once you redo the OS for your new SSD.

Overall, why pay the OEM a high premium to add more RAM or Drives when you can do all of that yourself, with ease, and almost always, CHEAPER.

I had the idea of building a PC but then I thought that I didn't have to have exaxt features just the best sounding combo and price.

Well there can't be more than 1,000 characters.

Well look at this link

http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/productdetails/alienware-area51-r2/dpcw034bfj2
After the ? in your longer links, delete the rest plus that ? in the link address and you can shorten them down to like how I have this one.

You can do the same with Amazon as well, here's an example of that:

A full link from Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y4GZS9C/ref=s9u_simh_gw_i1?ie=UTF8&fpl=fresh&pd_rd_i=B06Y4GZS9C&pd_rd_r=BVBHEBXWEV0TG85NNR71&pd_rd_w=LRNeH&pd_rd_wg=2PFVT&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=&pf_rd_r=3MFP395WEY75NP1062FD&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=1cf9d009-399c-49e1-901a-7b8786e59436&pf_rd_i=desktop

Now look at the link carefully and do this. Change "GP/Product" to just "DP"
then note the actual product listing name/code "B06Y4GZS9C" to shorten it, it will end up like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y4GZS9C

Oh man I didn't think of shortening the URL how stupid of me!!

depends.........

for gaming only 8gb is more than enough, the only way than 8+ is reccomended is if you need to do heavy video editing/rendering or 3D programs and other software. however many will say 16, 32 and such, everyone wants to feel justified for their choices, if i get 32gb i will say it was a good choice and it was wise to do, i made a good call and not look like i overdid it and much is wasted in terms of ram and the extra $$$ spent on it when someone with less does the job.....

sure the OS will use more if you get more, but for gaming........ the rule is optimized build, get what is needed, not going overkill for online bragging..... VRAM is getting more important nowdays.

It's nice not having to close down chrome, office, or other stuff while taking a (short) gamingbreak. Do I need 16GB? No. Do I use 16GB? Hell yeah!
Except I can have all that open, watch Netflix AND play a game like Just Cause 3, which is seemingly notorious for "memory leaks" that I haven't experienced, whilst only having 8gb of 1333MHz DDR3 RAM.

You have obviously never used above 8GB RAM; so that is your opinion... nothing more.

You also say "VRAM is more important" you do realize your entire VRAM usage is based around installed RAM right? So that 8GB GPU can't function 100% if all you have for system RAM is 8GB; think about it. Why does it work this way? Cause the system can't buffer what it doesn't have. With 8GB of RAM you are lucky to have 4-5GB free at any given time... this leaves little for a Game to run as it should, while shining fully.... oh right and that means you can't use your AMD 480, 580; GTX 1070, 1080 either; cause there isn't enough system RAM installed to use those as far as their VRAM amounts. With approx 8GB RAM installed, you have maybe 4GB for a Game and other things to use, that's it.
Uhhhhhhh, do a little research next time?[www.tomshardware.co.uk]

Well I have games that scratch at the 11GB RAM border so yeah I defently need more then 8.
That's because the more RAM you have, the more programs use the RAM.

引用自 RRW359
In any case, memory is relatively cheap so it's not a huge deal.
Except 8gb of DDR3 is over £40 and that's over 1/10 the price of my entire PC's components. Relatively, that's not cheap.

Yes, my system has DDR3 too and and missing a slot day ago, only work for now with 4gb, ordered a new ram and the price is a bit high (about $73 with shipping cost, $65 the price, living in Chile)
