Will be buying a gtx 1080ti soon and worried about bottlenecking
Been saving a lot of money lately by eating once a week for this gpu. Now my cpu is an i7-4770K and psu is a 650W. I guess I should go on with my current eating plan for 4 more months to get a i7-7700K with the gpu? Ill probably need to buy a 1000W psu as well? I will be staying 1080p 60fps for 4 more years so hopefully this gpu+cpu can last me 4 more years until I do this again for one year to get a new pc+4k monitor

If you are playing at 1080P 60Hz then you don't need anything above a 1060 6GB or RX 580 8GB.

I need something that will last 5 years actually because investment reasons.

You'll be wasting your money on a 1080Ti for 1080P 60 like I said look at the 1060 6GB or RX 580 8GB instead.

No GPU is going to last you for 5 years (at mid-high end). Get a 1070 and a 1440p monitor or a RX 580/gtx 1060 6gb.

Ok cools. My 760 lasted me 4 years actually but will be too useless next year to play at 1080p at 30fps. I will look at the 1060 then thanks again you two.

A GTX 1080 ti will be outdated and slow in 5 years, 1440p would probably be mainstream by then anyways so I'd get a 1070 atm and upgrade every 2-3 years or so.
1080Ti is definitely overkill for 1080p 60fps. I dunno about it lasting 4 years playing brand new games at max IQ settings, but definitely at least 2-3years.

If you only have a 60hertz monitor, there is no reason to be worried about a CPU bottleneck.

You also don't need a 1000w PSU for a single card or even most dual card setups. A quality 500-600w PSU is more than enough for a single GPU setup. Highend GPUs use ~200-300w, most common gaming CPUs use <125w (unless OCing), and throw in another 50-100w for the rest of the system and under peak load you are looking at ~500w.

Theres literally no reason on getting a 1000W cpu and an i7 7700k. You'll see absolutely no performance increase from your i7 4790k/GTX760. If you keep your 4790k and get a RX 580 or a new Vega GPU then you will see a huge difference.

A 7700k is literally 14% faster than the 4790k and performance wise, thats no difference really ingame.

I have a Termaltake 650W Black Edition, it is 3 years old now, my first one burnt out within the first year.

well only if he buys a 1440p monitor... there plenty ppl here still using a VGA monitor so dont lets talk about mainstream in combination with monitors.
I would never buy a GPU for 5 years. In the end you pay more then when upgrading. A good 1080 Ti cost between 850-900€ in germany. If I would buy a 240€ 1060 6GB now and in 3 years a 1080 Ti when it dropped to less then 300€ or in worst case still remains at 400€ then I still save alot of money... and thats how you actually do it when on budget.
They dont have stock of the RX 580 and asking double the price for it compared to the 1080ti so that card is a no go.

A RX 580 is 1/3 th the price of a 1080 ti...

Well I live in South Africa and they are asking double the price because the card is not here yet for some odd reason...

but it is sold out to bitcoin mining... and welcome back omega we missed ya!

Then get a 1060 6gb or rx 480. A 1080 ti is overkill. If you can afford a 1080 ti you can also afford a 1070 + 1440p monitor.
