Wii U Pro Controller on Steam
I'm trying to get my Wii U Pro Controller to work with Steam.

I downloaded the WiinUPro program and a Toshiba Bluetooth stack and did everything according to the info I found online. The controller was successfully linked to the PC - it rumbles when I click "identify" in WiinU.

However, Steam doesn't seem to be picking it up at all. When I go to configure controllers in Big Picture Mode, the controller isn't there.

I used the exact same procedure to connect a Wii U Pro controller to an older PC and it worked, but now , for some reason, it won't.

Did anyone have similar problems?

The controller doesn't have to be listed there; un-check all the boxes for Controller Support, then restart Steam. Ensure you have Steam Client opt'ed into the Beta via Steam > Settings > Account

If the controller is actually installed correctly in your OS, then Steam should see it as "Generic / X-Input Controller" if not then something is wrong with how it's setup in the OS.
So what's this exactly ? Just a bluetooth adapter made specifically for the Wii U Pro controller ?

How do I set it up to work with the controller? You still need to use WiinUPro or something similar with it right, just like if you were using a regular bluetooth dongle ?
No, with that adapter you should not need any 3rd party apps; simply connect Wii-U-Pro to it via that adapter's BT and set the Adapter to X-Input for Xbox Controller emulation.

Seems cool. I'll go for it since I just can't get it to work otherwise. And some games just aren't meant to be played with a keyboard .... ^^ Thx for the advice.
Honestly, why not just get an official Microsoft Xbox360 Wired Controller?
They are cheap and "just work"

In some cases, nostalgia. In other cases, a game's control scheme can function and "just work" much better with the controller for the system it was intended for.

More applicable to games that were made for a specific platform that is NOT Steam, but even Steam does have some games ported from consoles where it originated (and for which the game was designed).
