You refering to the ROG Gl552vw laptop?
if so

Ram = yes
hdd/ssd = yes

You need to get the right type/size and changing them will be more fiddly than changing them in a PC. Plus you need to remove the Ram and hhd in it first so you can add the new ram or hdd. On a PC you can (most motherboards anyway) add more Ram and Hdd/Ssds without removing your old ones thus not needing to spend as much for the upgrade as you still use what it there.

If you're considering purchasing this with the intention of upgrading parts, Don't bother.

I already have it but the one i Got only has 256gb M.2 ssd, thus making it almost impossible to have more than 7 games at once. And Will all sodimm work or is there any specific things? And lastly is it plug and play with new drives and ram?

Will toshibas 2.5" laptop hdd upgrade work

thats why the asus has the 2tb hdd..
anyway, ram is plug 'n play, few screws on the backside
And the ram u have is (I think, thats the info I found on google)
"2x8GB 2133Mhz DDR4 SDRAM SO-DIMM"
max. 32GB

Ram is easy. Take back cover off and see if you have any empty ram slots. If you do order the same kind u have now.

Ssd/hdd is also upgradeable easily, take back cover off and replace. If you get a larger ssd, clone the one you have currently to new one so you dont have to get a recovery media from asus (err their 3rd party contractor).

From the specs i find online u should have a 128gig ssd and a 1 tb hdd and 8 gigs pf ram. You can google the model and see how much ram you can put in it, prob 16 max, maybe 32 gig.

In that case just buy a 2.5" drive for mass storage. You can get like a 2tb around $80 or so.

For ram you'll have to get either a 2 8gig kit or a single 16 gig, or 2 16 gigs and replace what u have. My laptop came with a single 16 gig stick so for like $100 i put another stick in.

Go to newegg/amazon/whatever site you order parts from and just search for 2.5" hard drive.

Grounding yourself just make sure you're touching something metal on the laptop at all times, not advisable to do on carpet.

Oh, with the grounding should the battery be plugged in?

Dont matter, its just to keep static electricity from jumping. Like when you get out of a car and it shocks you. If you get out while holding the doorframe you dont get shocked.

And my pc says M.2 2280 slot support. SATA ssd only. Does that mean only ssds, or hdds to?
bigbenisdaman Jun 7, 2017 @ 7:06pm
Take the back cover off and look. They might have put the ssd in the main bay and have an m.2 slot open. That ot run a disk speed test and see whether its around 500 read/write or 2000 mbps read/write.
