I use fraps but it messes with my in game performance. Is there an alternative fps tracker?

Steam has a FPS counter.

While ingame do Shift-Tab > Settings > Ingame > FPS counter.

Low contrast is less obstructing and not very noticeable when you aren't looking at your fps :/

I have that enabled I meant for non steam games. Sorry wasn't specific.

you can add non-steam games to your library and the overlay will work on them

Forget Fraps, use MSI Afterburner, enable the OSD and configure RivaTuner

I'm using the 7.0 beta version Riva Tuner, works like a charm. The regular version usually comes with MSI Afterburner, but it can be downloaded seperately. I'm also using it with HWinfo to see things like CPU/GPU usage, voltages, power consumption etc. If there is a peformance impact it's probably very negligible. You just need Riva Tuner if all your looking for is a frame counter though.

No, do not use Geforce Experience. Don't even install that.

I dont think gefore experience even has an fps counter. But that program is still very usefull just for Shadowplay alone, best capturing program ever. I dont understand why ppl hate it so much, just have to disable automatic driver updates and game optimization 'features' and it's good.
