Overclocking Monitor
So overclocking my monitor from 60 hz to 75 hz results in the resolution of it decreasing from 2560x1080 to 640x480. I can apply the custom resolution of 75 hz in the nvidia control panel no problem but when I go to display adapter properties and change the screen refresh rate from 60 to 75, my resolution instantly drops to 640x480 and am forced to back to 2560x1080 with the 60 hz refresh rate...

What could be the problem here? My monitor can be overclocked to 75 hz but it won't stabilize for some reason.

What's your monitor? When you set Custom Resolution in NVIDIA make sure you select 2560 x 1080 as the resolution. It will test the custom resolution when you create that and automatically set it as the resolution IF you succeed and click Yes.

After that you need to run several tests to make sure there's no frame skipping, no ghosting, no colour degration etc.

I got to that point where it tests the custom resolution and refresh rate. I hit apply and it accepted it. But for whatever reason under display adapter properties the refresh rate remains unchanged regardless of what i did in the control panel.

Try to use and see if it will apply the overclock.

Thank you, will try this tomorrow and report back.

I dont think 15hz overclock is even possible. I have tried overclocking a few monitors and they could only do +5hz at most.

It's more than possible, I can OC my 27VV from 75 to 92. Other Korean monitor can OC from 75 to 110 if you're lucky. ACER Predator 144Hz can be OC to 165Hz.

OP, go here https://www.testufo.com to test your OC result. You may need to get your camera for certain test (frame skipping black bar).

I mean, sure, there are some monitors capable of high overclocks, but most monitors are not.

I just tried overclocking my asus rog swift pg278q (144hz) and it literally cannot do +2hz...
ACER Predater is better than ASUS ROG Swift, people used to OC them into 165Hz before ACER release 165Hz monitor. It depends on the PCB and the clock limit the manufacturer put in.

OP, yes LG29UM58 is overclockable to 75Hz.
